Theres a ton of new characters and others have switched moves/mechanics, im gonna be playing almost all of them a lot before i choose whos style i like.

I would outright say Ness, but no DJC, no WD?

Are they ****ing nuts?

I havnt played Brawl, and I havnt spent TOO much time looking up videos, so i dont know too much about the new mechanics.

But the reason i played ness in 64, then endured the 2 years it took after melee came out to actually be able to win with ness again... this is so dissapointing.

Ness was FUN, wave dashing around with the bat, Getting hit in the air and swing jumping right back into them with a B or a N air, DJC Front air - SH Front Air - Grab.

I loved melee, cause i worked so god ****ed hard, and got so good with him that i could toss anyone with him except the very best (darkreign... tho he was suprised when i beat his falco with him)...

I mean, I'll prolly have him as one of my top played chars still, cause I'm no quitter, but without that i don't think hell be my number 1 anymore, exp with all the new chars.

In Melee i mained 5 characters, i may "main" even more this time around. I personally like to be able to switch to a completely diff style character in a tourny if i feel i need too.

I never understood that having a single main thing anyway, its not hard to get down a chars moves, and its not like you lose that ability when you spend some time on another character as long as you play all of the ones you main pretty much daily...

I wouldn't say that. They have the advantage of being used to DI'ing, shorthopping/fastfalling aerials, shieldgrabbing, etc.

I'll still main him, but Lucas is just so awesome that I'll be maining them together.

I think I'll favour Lucas the most, though.
i may have to agree with u nessbounder. ness has always been there for us since the first smashbros and hes a great character. and lucas looks just really good and an interesting character to use. ill probably main both :)

I played Brawl Ness for a couple hours earlier tonight, and I'm here to assure my fellow Ness mainers that we made the right choice. The boy just plain rocks.

The lack of DJC was even more painful than I imagined (it's rough, so rough) but everything else is excellent. <3

Interesting, Everyone else said that it led to better combo opportunities.
Lemme rephrase: I'm not saying it's better or worse, just that it's a big shock transitioning from Melee Ness. Basically, you learn to shorthop aerials instead of DJC them, you learn you can actually edgeguard with a DJ'd dair and not suicide (haha), and you learn to live without super-low-to-the-ground aerial combos. There are advantages to each version of Ness; I was just saying that Brawl Ness feels weird at first. Hopefully that makes more sense now.

One more thing. From what I've seen, lack of DJC doesn't lead to "better" combos, just... different combos. Ness loses some combos that he had before, and he gains some that he didn't have. However, I could be wrong; I've only played Ness for about 5 hours total now, which is barely scratching the surface. Time will tell if his combos are better than in Melee. I'd like to restate that overall though, it feels like he's been buffed. :)

I thank god I mastered doing aerials in an out of enemy range repeatedly, since it seems like that will still be extremely applicable and useful in Brawl.

Well, I can't say for sure of course, but unless another character grabs my attention in a big way I'll keep maining him. I've loved Ness since I accidentaly unlocked him, and I'll keep using him.

Although Lucas's PK Thunder going through people appeals to me. I'm such a traitor!

Um............ ok? An argument about which little boy is sexier... Well if little boys are your bag, um you can take it somewhere else maybe?

Well for some on-topic convo, I'm glad Ness is somewhat back to his N64 awesomeness when it comes to the Yo-yo and PK Thunder's power and his DAir being much faster, and best of all Ness has some of the same effects I can combo into effectively in Melee like his running A attack and FAir, and his throws I'm loving those too. His Final Smash is a bit disappointing, oh well cannot change that, can I...

But things are looking better for Ness, and since I had no problems fighting competitively against Fox, Sheik and Marth in Melee it's MUCH better for me...
I know that deep inside, you, too, wish you could hit it.

Know what i did notice about PK Flash is that is a little more maneuverable. You can move it a little further and you have more control i think. Its still not very good though :/

I think Ness' PK Flash though I heard has less manueverability than it did in Melee. So unfortunately Ness' PK Flash sucks. Perhaps it'll be later on until someone can find a better use for it. Maybe a PK fire will sorta stun them, then you can PK Flash them? No... still seems too slow. But it does slightly more damage I think, it does 38-39% instead of 36% like it did in Melee. I personally thought PK Flash would have been better if it did like 45% damage considering how hard it is to hit it and also considering Lucas has PK Freeze which can utterly destroy you.

Perhaps someone should try to see if PK Fire which sorta stuns people can be used to set people up for a PK Flash. Do you think that'd work?

I liked using him but he just sucked in Melee, I couldn't really get good with uhim and abbandoned him, then I played him in Brawl... My friends could NOT beat me, I'm maining him for sure, he's amazing.

In an odd coincidence, I decided to up my tech skill (particularly wavelanding/wavedashing out of shield), for no particular reason.

Favorites in brawl so far: Zelda, Ness, Lucas, Marth. The new Zelda's so fun to use. Also Ness's buffs are cool, but I haven't come up with many really good ideas to try with him yet.

I'm going to stick with Ness at least for the time being. I love the Mother series so I'll definitely give Lucas a spin, and I'll see how things go. Though I doubt I'll every fully drop playing Ness, f-air spam is too delicious.

I'm going to main Ness for sure. I'm really glad he's back I mained him, Dr. Mario and Roy in melee. It would of sucked if none of them made it back.

Probably. I'm more bothered when people say "XYZ Character is my thirdary." Thirdary isn't a word. It's tertiary. Tersh-ee-air-ee.

But even for that, I don't really give a crap. ;p

I'll definitely still main him. Maybe or probably Lucas too. Personally I like Ness as a character more than Lucas, and he still appeals to me more than L.

Ness seems to have been improved since Melee. No double-jump cancel is going to result in a pretty crazy air game. His psychic shove can set people up pretty easy, too. I'm liking his new Pk Thunder as well.
