Alright MK fans i have new vids of myself playin again! once again i'd like everyone's 2cents good or bad.

jus some random notes on how i feel about my play...

i realize i still use glide quite a bit but its become a healthy (or unhealthy?) part of my style and i cant help it lol. im still suck at short hops, plz dont rag on me much i dont own a wii or gamecube and play this game scarcely. i came up with the idea of tryin to use glide atk for edgeguardin, so i took the day to try it out on several occasions, for the most part it didnt feel that effective to me. i feel i've gotten a bit better tho, i play a bit safer now and i tend to grab alot more now too.

I also participated in a small tournament of 8 players, i came 1st place =) yay. :)

critique, advise, comment positively or negatively. thanks guys

*** some (not all) matches vs D.B (TL) we were seriously messin around lol we were laughin 2 much while playin (and starving!) ***

Overall...
- i have troubles with toon link
- i find lucas shorthop PK fire an issue
- marth is a problem (not exactly the marth i played but a good marth gives me problems)
- dont mind me doin ^B off the stage or wrong direction, lol what i was really tryin to do is reverse ^B and failed

NOTE: Everyone has played Brawl a couple of times but the real experienced players are: Tyrant, Mysta, Lone Wolf, Zex, and Sol. So you might want to focus more on those matches.

I watched a few of the singles. That Falco fight, in particular, was fun to watch.

I'm impressed by how well you used that Shuttle Loop, but you should try to tone it down a bit more. And maybe use the Mach Tornado more.

I saw you wasting a lot of attacks on thin air, and a fair number of them were on the ground. MK's usmash and dsmash are great, but you hardly utilized his air attacks at all in the videos I watch. The only specific thing I wanted to point out is when you chase your opponent off stage, you should only use the Shuttle Loop when it's necessary and try to use more air attacks. In one of the fights (I can't remember which), you used the Shuttle Loop three times in a row with your opponent above 150% and didn't get a kill.

You do some things really well. But I felt like you and your friends were playing on the ground a ridiculous amount. If I were you I'd just WoP Fairs all day to build damage. Save your upB for when you actually have a chance of killing them with it, because you're diminishing it's damage and knockback greatly.

@lonelytraveler8: good insight i'll definitely start using more aerial atks and mach tornado. the problem i have with mach tornado sometimes is when i dont get that last hit of the tornado i feel like i can be punished and sometimes i actually do. im realizing i go to high with the tornado which seems to be the problem lol. once i see it connect i mash B like a monster lol. good lesson learned tho.

@Bibbed: yeah after watchin myself play i noticed my over abusive ^B. i'll start workin on reserving its dmg and knockback and start using more SH-aerials.

thnx guyz

It can actually be quite hard to land this last hit on the Tornado if you stay low. If you brush the opponent with it, then move away, but if you really catch them in it, then mash away like you said you do. You're more likely to land all the hits while rising because it prevents the tornado from pushing them out.

the tornado isent teh awnser its just another easy mode. dont spend time getting there damage up with it becuase you will start to rely on it and thn once your faceing an char like lucas /ness /falco your doomed you cant us the tornado t get close and if you do u get smacked back to the other side where they spam you again be agressive an use his arials dont use the tornado .....

Wrong. Of all the people I play against, the best uses Lucas and the second one switches between Sonic, Falco and Wolf. They don't make the Tornado useless. In fact, it still works quite well against them, but you have to use it differently. You're right that you can't always approach with it against them, but it's still an excellent way to throw them off and build damage.

i dont have a wii or the game to practice these things out unfortunately
but i do agree with both points from ollenberger121 and lonelytrav. relyin on tornado for approach is bad BUT lonelytrav makes a good point that you just have to use it differently.

oh yeah just need advice on something... aside from these matches normally when i play with my buddies and i do SH-aerial (any of them) i usually end up being grabbed right after. is there a way to do an SH-aerial on a blocked opponent without bein grabbed afterwards? btw which short hop aerial shud i be using?

oi. Moving on.

MDK, it sounds to me like you aren't spacing properly. Meta Knight has a sword so you don't have to be literally on top of the opponent to hit them with it. So keep enough distance between the two of you and if they shield, DI away from them. If you find you are getting shieldgrabbed a lot, then you need to try a different approach.

Reverse Shuttle Loop

I see the term reverse shuttle loop frequently. Do you somehow do Up+B in one direction but glide the opposite direction? How do you do it?

The name is a bit deceptive. The point is to follow your opponent off stage and at some point reverse the direction you are facing and the use the Shuttle Loop. This way, you are facing towards the stage when you use it and can glide to safety. There is no way to Shuttle Loop in one direction and then glide in the other.

at 6:31 i do a reverse shuttle loop

its just like lonelytrav said. because shuttle loop has a pretty big hit box, with the right positioning you can send the opponent flying away from the stage while you fly towards the stage.

very stylish =) you get 1 million style pts for doing it. i did it a few times cant remember which vids tho

I agree. Heres a vid of me and my bro playing ( not one of his better games) but its good in showing me keeping as much distance as possible and getting alot of MK f-airs in and still be far enough away to not get shield grabbed. Also you are preety good with those gilde attacks, i usually just use it as KO move for some mind games.

good spot to see it is at 3:24

(theres a few secs in the beggining where the game took forever to load, dont worry about that)

Technically, you should just always DI away. The goal is to hit with the tip of your attack without and forward momentum. And yes, fast fall and follow up. Don't let them breathe.

If they keep shielding, though, why not just grab them occasionally? If they learn that they get grabbed every time they shield, then you might be able to force them into doing something they aren't so comfortable with. Just don't get predictable with your grabs!

I watched this video and really enjoyed it. You're pretty good. You use that air dodge extremely well. And you did indeed space very very well. I only have a couple tips from what I saw:

- You don't seem to be very aggressive when you knock your opponent off the edge, but then I've never played against Dedede.
- Dedede is really big, but when you were right on top of him, you missed him a fair amount. The best way around this are either a dsmash or a nair. I only counted two nairs the whole fight, but it's a really good attack, especially if you've been spamming fair alot.

short hop ^air,^air,^air, or sh ^air, ^air to ^b or jump after the second ^air do a fair(free 5 hit combo) which can sometimes lead to ^b if they don't know how to di.
Also if you learn to reverse the ^b while beneath and hit them when you have just about finished the loop you can get a free glide attack.
forgot, sh dair to ^b, sh dair to momentum air dodge to grab, sh dair, then jump b4 hitting the ground then do a dair then do a fast felled ^b.

your spacing and movement impressed me in this vid. However, don't be afraid to mix it up a bit with a few more grabs and nairs, like previous commenters have stated. I'd love to see more vids of you vs someone who can counter your sh-fair a little bit better if you have any. Was fun to watch though, gj.

Yea this game wasn't Mune's greatest game but It just showed my spacing well. You can check out the other videos I have on there for some more good games. I usually dont use nair that much to save them just because its a great killing move against an apponent whoes in the air and been knocked off of the map. And nair doesnt have that great of range compared to other attacks, and the last thing you want to do is let DDD get a few hits in which is all he needs for a KO. DDD does take some good strategy to beat just because of his range, and hes a flyer and has some deadly airs so I dont usually chase him off the map. And my dodging is on the spot in most of my fights, I think more people should be take advantage of air dodging more, especially vs those heavy chars where you can dodge an attack and be able to punish them. Unlike melee you arent screwed after a dodge. Its also fairly easy to screw up peoples combos with a dodge, you get launched - wait for the next attack - dodge and get free hits. But it doesnt work in all cases but you still have a good chance of comming out at an advantage.

Anyways

Keep it up and develop some unique techniques and maybe you will be the one teaching others.

I agree with you about air-dodging. I absolutely love it in Brawl. Your dodging in that vid was also really impressive, nice work, and a good learning aid for people like me who are less experienced.

less shuttle loop, use that maybe once or twice and when you know you can kill with it per match.

you full hop tooooooo much. i dont know why, cuz he is a very easy character to short hop with.

spam the crap out of his d-smash when on ground and more mach tornado, those two moves are fast and have very good priority, especially mach tornado.

and his f-air and u-air are also good to spam the hell out of. and fix your spacing, you are too close.

other than that, you seem decent. the guys you play are ok.

Don't come on here much anymore. I got kind of tired of Brawl quickly after I started playing Melee again with my friend. I might go back again soon, though.

Anyways, I only watched the first TL video against SOL. I noticed he liked spamming his projectiles a lot. This should be punished by MK big time with simple Tornados. From there you would just have to be careful if he switches to mostly bombs.

I'd also definitely say to mix up your recovery a bit. There are too many options to go over, but usually you can just wing it.

And another TL specific tip. He recovers low from below the edge, so you might have an easy time edgeguarding if you follow him off, drop below and then do a reverse Shuttle Loop back onto the stage with a possible ledge spike. Definitely try different things, though. I don't think your dair attempts against him worked a single time for edge guarding. That up-B of his is hard to get around from above.
