Hey Smashboards :D
Whats up? So i've been kinda on and off here for years, but my local area has been hyped up like the rest of this community lately and we had some decent turnouts at our last 2 locals so now we are doing Monthly Smashfests.
Mainly designed for practice, we are a bunch of chill competitive players looking to improve, a couple casuals, and its normally loads of fun.
We had an ok twitch stream set-up last time with 1 commentator, but we are working to improve it even more next time with 2 headsets and better equipment.
I'm trying to get Ocean County area hyped up and find more players around south-mid jersey so check the facebook link below if you are interested in coming.

*** Please Post Set-Ups Guys ***
So we decided Monthlies are the best idea for what we have going right now.
We will be doing the same thing as last time essentially but with better streaming equipment and making it stay archived on twitch.tv, the tournaments are slightly cheaper and everyone seems to enjoy free 2v2s so yeah :]

Can you explain the venue fees a bit more clearly? If entering 1 game, it is 15$ (10 venue 5 entry)? Its a bit unclear in the original post.

Sorry ill Edit to make it a bit more clear my grammar is terrible honestly
$10 Venue
$5 for Brawl 1v1
$5 for Melee 1v1
$5 for P:M 1v1
Doubles for P:M are free

Tbh i just started this scene up, we held 2 tournaments with decent turnouts both times but it was mainly local peopl in the last few months. We have some decently strong players and some good casuals and we are all looking to just play learn and have fun.
Honestly last tournament we had like 6 entrys for melee, but out of 13 people who all played P:M.
This tournament im trying to get more players to come, i'm trying to make it more and more legit every tournament, between setting up twitch.tv/contibeastmode, making a twitter, new youtube, and other stuff to get other players to notice. I'm just hoping we can take off strong with this 1st Monthly,

I might come with my crew, but it would have to have a decent amount of entrants for BRAWL (we need it for other games too but you didn't mention what the turnout was like for brawl) since it is an hour and a half away.

yeah our brawl scene is honestly a dieing trend, like everywhere else it seems, this might be the last brawl event we have depending on turnout [which sucks from my perspective, im actually decently good at brawl, and still learning alot in P:M, but now everyone seems to be getting into P:M] We had like 5 entrys last event. I've been doing what i can in terms of promoting and people have noticed, i'm hoping by my 2nd monthly [which will be after SKTAR] people will know more about us and start coming out. I had keitaro come to my first one i hosted at portal which was hype cuz he's well known and hosting a huge event like SKTAR. I went out to Yestercades and did my 1st non-local P:M tournament, i did alright and got 13th out of 50, their brawl turnout was bad too, only 8 people [compaired to their 33person melee, and 50person project:M] -.- i talked with people and handed out some flyers and got a couple people to come out just with that but idk, I feel like people are moving on from brawl with smash4 right around the corner, Melee/P:M/Smash4 are going to be what people play.

free pm doubles sounds awesome. would like to see that more often actually, it would encourage more people from both sides to play and come together.

Well the thing is, I am the only person in my crew of 5 who plays any game other than Brawl competitively. So if that promoting thing works out for you, just let me know.

I think its working out. I played alot of brawl competitively and still enjoy playing the game mainly at these fests [otherwise im always playing P:M these days] so it'd be cool if ur crew came out to spice up the event. Maybe with a good turnout we can opt to keep brawl for a bit longer at these Monthlies, that and I'm tired of Me vs my wario friend from Hoboken in WinnersFinals/Grand Finals almost-every tournament for brawl, a fair challenge would be fun. xD

Sorry, it looks like we might instead be going to S@T 2, which is 20 minutes away instead of 2 hours.

Yeah i never responded to this, It's honestly an idea one of my good friends had, [hes like an isai, he doesnt play singles and only enters doubles cuz its more fun to him], and well, Normally by the time we get to doubles, some people clear out and everyone is low on cash or tryin to chill, Pretty much everyone is playing P:M now so it gets everyone who stuck around together for some 2v2s, and occasionally we do a crew battle afterwards.
