Matchup vs. SUPER CAMPY PEACHES????

Ok I understand that generally the peach vs. marth matchup is favored for marth... but it only seems that way if the peach is being equally as aggressive as the marth.. The peach I play against is very good at camping me with turnips as much as possible and then counterattacking if I go after him. If I try to play defensively too I feel like I'm put on the complete defense and slowly pushed away from the center of the stage through projectile control....

For some reason I have a much harder time getting around this than falcos lasers... If its on a small stage control isn't much of an issue, but if I'm facing this peach player on FD, DL64, or Pokemon stadium its a pretty **** matchup for me... I just don't know what strategies marth players use to get around really campy peaches... and most of the good peach players out there to watch (like cort) are relatively aggresive and in the marths face unless they have an opportunity to pull out a turnip... which I would much rather prerfer.

Any help would be appreciated... sorry for any unclear writing.. its pretty **** late

Hmmm.... If possible, try to get to the peach before she can pitch her tent and whip out the marshmallows. Otherwise, I can't help.

peach is slow and your range is better than hers disregarding the turnips - rush her down. you can try approaching by wave-dashing into a down tilt - you'll duck under the turnip and marth's down tilt has decent range and very little lag, although you do not want to get hit by her down-smash while doing this because getting hit by that while crouched will do a ton of damage. you can also screw turnip users up by saving your second jump and jumping right when the turnip is released/fastfalling/whatever - you really shouldn't be getting hit by those unless the dude you're playing is reading you pretty far ahead.

also, how is she countering - is she ccing your **** and damaging you every time you get close or is she making you whiff then attacking you? if she's crouch-canceling do the f-air, l-cancel it and spam down-tilts/whatever while staying outside d-smash range. i generally don't try to grab peach because that down-smash of hers is a *****, but your forward tilt should screw her up mightily - don't let her get too close or you'll be in for a world of hurt. if you're whiffing, well, avoid f-smashes and use a lot of f-aerials, f-tilts, and d-tilts - maybe throw in a side-b to mix things up, whatever, just avoid move lag as much as possible. you definitely have the edge in the air, especially if she's above you, so try to get her off the ground.

I don't agree with the pressure as she can rock your world the moment you mess up if you try to assault her, and as to one of the above posters for peach being slow...eh..you must not play at a high level.

If the peach is giving you a hard time with her turnip game on larger stages, don't feel like you're being too defensive..being defensive is key in this matchup. You feel as if shes slowly approaching you with her turnips well do the same, wavelanding into shield helps because usually getting close with this makes her turn into a float canceling fury..

you should expect this and wavedash back or something along those lines..and don't worry about catching a turnip from a distance..if you swipe them, shes probably going to catch you in lag..throwing a turnip into hers will sometimes create a wall of rising turnips and she can't throw through them..a small but neat aspect.

Overall, keep your defensive game up, don't lose your cool...catch turnips and go high a throw one, just let her do her thing and focus on not taking any damage, campy peaches like this are annoying but it comes down to who is ahead in a stock and who has the most patience...the only thing that bothers me about them is the fact they get special items moreso..stitch is when things get bad..or worse..a bomb.

I'd focus on getting in close with my shield defensively and making her do something, long as shes NOT puling a turnip, she has no projectile.

Yeah the peach player I play against float cancells really fast... like cort fast >_> I'll try your advice out... is it a good idea to move around on platforms (like on PS) or should I not be going above the peach so she can get underneat me. I feel like I'm vulnerable there (even though my platform movement is good) but at the same time she can't camp me with turnips.

Its a risk with its up and downs, it all depends on your speed, when you do it and if the peach expects it or not. Platform movement with quick falling d-airs or f-airs can really catch a peach offguard or lessen her options by putting her in shield at a safe distance. I figured the peach player float cancels really fast, as all good ones do...

If I'm using platforms, I'd probably slide off an airdodge into the ground then quickly get off a grab, that usually dodges her attack as most don't expect such things. All, surprise is key in situations like this...wavelanding into shield closes the distance while when she expects this and tries to counter it, you're far more open to the other options when shes purely expecting this tactic...just keep your cool and don't panic when she starts to camp.

If you are a stock ahead, waveland towards her into shield, triangle jump with your shield, etc...keeping a good distance from her yet not letting her feel safe either...shes bound to try something when you get into her comfort bubble, which is I bet is gonna be a short leaping turnip throw into a falling d-air to grab..at least thats what a few have done..

Keep your cool and keep your distance, unless shes a stock ahead, you're in the clear still.

Mmmm good advice, I never though of triangle jumping (I'm assuming this is a mixup for spacing fairs?)...I wish i had vids to show you guys but sadly I don't.. thanks for all the advice based on what I could describe though!

when the peach is at lower percentages i am aggressive with a grab and fair because you can get a string of combos on Peach easily. then i am more patient and defense, abusing range and forcing her to make mistakes by spacing with low-lag moves.

at 30%ish i would Down Throw Bair and edge gaurd her if i can, if the DI's away, and the Bair misses around this % range you can ken combo her after as she trys to recover.

So far I've been working with this advice and its been going pretty well. Though I've found that I do better with sheik in this matchup just because I can countercamp to a degree with needles and force the peach to come to me. But being more patient in genearl with marth has really helped my gameplay. This guy just knows the marth matchup well since he pretty much gets counterpicked by marths at every tourney he goes to by top norcal players like luninspectra. Hopefully I can get a video up at some point.. been meaning to record myself for a long time now, its hard to make complete judgements about my playstyle and mistakes without being able to rewatch a match.

I think its best to give general advice in things like this until he gets a video, for sure he knows how to combo her once he reaches her.
yueah i guess, depends on the peach, but what i stated is general.

also marth can also be campy, and if you are smart/enoying, the peach will be dumb and fall for the pressure. thats what i would do if i had trouble fighting her camp.
