Matchup Chart Project 2015 - Calling Jigglypuff Mains!

Hello Jigglypuff boards,

I'm Zareidriel. Over in this thread a guy called Assassannerr made a matchup chart, and asked people to help fill it out. It seems like it would be a cool thing to have. With once glance you could have a rough idea of a matchup. It won't be perfect, but for our first go at it in 2015 we're aiming for "somewhat functional."

So here's what I'm going to do. Go to every Character Discussion board, and ask the folks there if they wouldn't mind contributing. To submit one vote, you'll have to fill out one of these:

Mark each character with a + for a match where Jigglypuff HAS THE ADVANTAGE
Mark each character with a - for a match where Jigglypuff HAS THE DISADVANTAGE
Mark each character with a number 0 for a match you feel is very even.

NOTE THAT I AM ONLY TAKING VOTES FROM MEMBERS WITH Jigglypuff IN THEIR PROFILE BAR. It can be as either "Wii U Main" or "3DS Main". But if Jigglypuff is in neither one of those slots when I count the votes on Friday, Nov 13, it won't be counted.

(Yes, for the avid democrats out there, that means you can vote for one other character as well.)

Like I said, they won't be perfect, and each board will probably be a little biased toward their own respective character. But the results should be interesting regardless.

If this thing is successful maybe we'll do a revised version in 2016.

Would be an example. Indicating Jiggs has a good matchup against Bowser, a bad matchup against Bowser Jr, a neutral matchup against Duck Hunt, and so on.

This will be hard. Jigglypuff has a lot off really weird matchups, especially against the big characters. I'll put in my best effort.

I agree matchups are hard. I've been continually changing my opinions on Robin's matchups from a year ago until now. All I can ask for is your best guesstimate.

What are your reasonings for Diddy, ZSS, Ryu, DHD, Ganon and Mac?

Diddy: In brawl, diddy was the only high tier that puff did well against, due to his bananas being innefective vs puff, which is still true now. The only reason that puff lost vs diddy originally was bc she died super early to hoo hah. Now that that's gone, she does well against him. Diddy's only good option vs puff in neutral is fair, which you can bait and punish, and they can become reliant on. Also, his combos now are really hard to get vs puff if you di and jump out of combos. Dtilt to usmash isnt reliable on us either. He is also one of the easiest characters to gimp, just be at a 25 degree angle if he is gonna side b, or dair his up b to watch him fall. "long live the king".

ZSS: Duck. DI. She cant hit us with her super jank combos that makes her so good. Its like her issue with the pika mu, except we just arent as good as pika. She has similar issues getting setups and followthrough due to size and weight. I would call this a 55-45 MU.

Ryu: This one Im really unsure about. I just know he has issues approaching due to his hadouken being destroyed by nair, and we can smash di out of his combos earlier. His only good move for approaching is his fair and bair, which we can get around with our tools. Our nair and dair beats his side b, dair beats his down b, so you fast fall it to get the semi spike to footstool. He is pretty simple to edgeguard, you just have to do it right. We may lose this, mostly inexperince with this one.

Duck Hunt: Dash attack everything. Frisbee, can, the men. Also, if you hold down during his smash attacks, they wont connect. Jigglypuff is Duck Hunts hardest character to kill, which is funn. We can be really aggressive in this MU, which shuts him down. Also, his up b is total ****.

Ganondorf: His usmash is insane, no cool down. How do you approach this ****, if you try to punish you eat a ftilt to the face. But we can gimp him pretty easily. We die early, he dies early.

Little Mac: He can box us out really well, no pum intended. We need to rely on tomahawking and empty hopping to bait him out, and then we can get some big punishes.

I can imagine why you'd think we'd beat Zelda while I disagree, but how do you think we beat Greninja. Greninja Puff is very dreadful.

Is Sheik really a negative MU? I always thought we went even with her. I'd also like to know why ROB is even or even a plus on this thread. I always saw this as a tough MU.

In a more balanced game, we would have the advantage to Sheik, but since Sheik is good and Puff isn't,v we lose. R.O.B is a big target so he's easy to Rest and we can escape his robo-hoohah. He's also pretty easy to edgeguard. Honestly I feel like R.O.B is actually one of our best matchups.

Huh, it's been awhile since I've played the MU regularly, but I always thought ROBs Hoohah was inescapable. That, his killthrow, and his projectiles always put in the mindset that him, Mario, and Ness were the worst Puffer MUs. I need to educate myself more.

The super jank combos do work on jiggs. The uair staircase to up b combo does work and kills without even having to connect the last hit a lot of the time because of how high jiggs goes from the first hits.

Duck is more of an alternative to shield that loses to her moves that hit low so it's a risk to just throw out.
