  • No Flaming. Respect the opinions of others even if you disagree. Let's not get heated on an online forum for a family-friendly game. Failure to abide by this will result in the wrath of the law.
  • Human error isn't something worth serious consideration. Discussions will assume both characters are being played to utmost potential.
The following are suggested subtopics of conversation:
  • Character strengths and weaknesses
  • How to effectively approach/deter approaches
  • Off-stage game
  • Positional play
  • Punishes/punishing
  • Specific moves/strings that are strong for both characters
  • Suggested custom movesets
  • Stage strengths and weaknesses
  • Overall score [NOTE: THIS IS NOT AS IMPORTANT DURING THE FIRST ROUND OF DISCUSSION]

***For general questions not related to the current topic in this thread please use the General Match Up thread.***

This thread shall last for around 8-9 days, with the next thread opening up in about 5-7 days.

Since ZSS is one of the fastest characters in the game I would suggest spacing with his Shadowball

I think ZSS eats Mewtwo alive.... she is fast and agile, almost ungimpable and Mewtwo's longer range and tilts won't matter much because ZSS approach are usually through Nair or Zair.... and her punishing game is the best.... which is everything Mewtwo doesn't want, a good punisher.
His weight and floatness makes him escape easier from Up Air strings I guess.... but on the down side he will be dead before 100% after a good punish.

I see where your going but mewtwos Nair pretty much canceles out ZSS nair but the zair does help ZSS with spacing.Mewtwos bair will support the spacing againts ZSS and his Fair comes out really fast so if ZSS fairs she'll lose (Because its two hits)

Yes, ZSS can combo very efficiently and Mewtwo's tall size makes her spacing easier. But the thing is most of her game is played at mid-range, since her close-quarters game is actually fairly unimpressive. Because of this Mewtwo can acquit himself well when facing off against her, plus he is mobile enough to catch her flip jumps. Play cautiously, and you will be able to punish her grab too.

It's disadvantaged because of skewed risk/reward as usual, but she doesn't pressure Mewtwo to nearly the same extent as the likes of Sheik or Falcon up close. Her game plays right into Mewtwo's comfort zone.

I've had Mewtwo's absurd lightness get me out of a lot of up B kills with upward DI. Not to say that the ZSSes have no way to compensate, but it's something.

I'd say, Mewtwo is pretty much standard fare against ZSS. Which is to say, she doesn't destroy him that much more or less than she destroys a lot of the other cast.

I'd say ZSS is definitely at the advantage, but there are worse matchups overall.

Definitely DI up on the upb. I had fun a few months ago when the best player in our state was dead certain I couldn't get out of upb with upwards DI at kill %. After I fell out of it 4 times in a row he just ragequit rofl.
