I think that one of the main flaws with my Marth is that I don't use these moves enough, and while I don't see any situation in which I really need them (Outside of say, Dtilt semi infinites), I'd still like to know their uses and timings. Any tips?

Try mixing up fairs and dtilts to space, instead of just fairs. Dtilts are soo useful against MK. Nair is a great move to link combos and hit people coming up from an edge.

When using Marth the best time to use the down tilt is after you approach with a fair now if you go to deep with the fair you will be punished but if done correct you can fair into down tilts all day, as for the nair its not like the melee nair so use it for mix ups with your fair approaches

I used to have the same problem as you, where I practically never used nairs or dtilts. After I started making a point to use them, nair and dtilt are some of my favorite moves.

Nair is a very safe approach because of the two hits. The first hit scares them off, and the second hit has great knockback when tippered. Nair is also a very reliable tool when gimping. Honestly, anyone could see a fair or bair coming and just airdodge that. Since a lot of players are conditioned to airdodge once Marth is within fair range, nair is a great punisher. They airdodge the first hit, but the second hit comes in and hits them - most likely killing when tipped.

Dtilt is a great move to use to set your opponent up for something else. A nontippered dtilt can even lead into a tipped dtilt. From a dtilt, you can walk into a tipped ftilt, or dash into Dancing Blade.

If you use dtilt and nair in your games, you'll definitely see some major improvements.

Hah, thanks guys! I just played what can be called a good Lucario and won due to the Fair and Dtilt spacing, and he airdodged a Nair only to be killed by the second blow. Once again thanks, I feel like this is quite helpful to my game! That video was also helpful, not only for Dtilt, but for Marth versus Marth too.

Sparky here hit the nail on the head. Nair is his most damaging aerial, and has intense knock back. Using this off stage is very useful too, as few characters can make it back after a Nair to the face.

Yay for awesome nicknames :bee:

And precise hammer strikes :chuckle:

On a serious note: It's good to know that you've started using not only nair and dtilt, but ftilt as well. Marth has a pretty nice ground game that many people tend to ignore. Glad to have been of help.

Nair is awsome. Oddly, I haven't seen too many people do it, but I love approaching with this and fair. It's hard to counter if you space well. I also like to do it when edge guarding, if I'm going for an edge hog and they make it back on, just edge hop a nair. Also, it CAN kill if the 2nd hit tippers, but the first hit usually doesnt knock them into the sweet spot of the 2nd hit.

Nair can KO unexpectedly. Very good surprise.
I use Nair for edge guarding, and I like using Dtilts to snipe people off of edges after invincibility frames , and I like crouching when the opponent is far away so it looks like I'll use it, but then they jump approach and then i fsmash them, but this only works if they don't air-dodge. if they do airdodge, then I shield up from the crouching position.
