Marth's Final Smash

im a marth main and iw as wondering...

how exactly does marth's final smash work? I know its a 1HKO, but...

the other day i was playing with my friends and we had items on for fun (i typically do not use items, so that's why i don't know much on marth's final smash)well i got the smash ball and since we were on final destination it was easy to line myself up with my foes.

When I used the attack, though, he barely even moved forward at all... not even one character-length. Then later I used it and he went pretty far (1/3 final destination) so i was wondering...

is it random how far he goes? is it based on controller input?

once again, i barely use smash balls, so i really don't know

He goes up to the opponent and stops, if he stopped randomly, I have no idea.

u probably pressed a button when you used it.

when you activate his final smash, if you press something, he'll stop going forward. either that or the opponent jump out of the way as soon as you were about to hit them.
