Well, I've been on the boards for maybe two weeks now and I've seen that many people post vids of themselves in the effort to grow as a player. I, being one who always seeks to better my game, decided to do the same. This is a friendly between me, SOPF, and my cousin, OREO. Note that I've been using advanced tactics for about six months and have been to only one local tourney. Any advice would be appreciated greatly. Thank you in advance for any useful critiquing.

P.S. I know that around :42 I messed up with that F-smash. I feel bad about that and I screwed up with the buttons, so yeah.

Falcon Vs marth...Falcon players say its harder for falcon due to spacing and being punished..but marth players say its harder for marth because of falcon's speed and him being able to punish just as well if not better...

I'm biased so I really can't say whos right..but falcon is one of my harder matchups.

And I'm sorry but you have the worst camera in history lol..I tried watching but its so shifty and hard to make out whats happening exactly...I can see the characters images but its not clear and fluid enough for me to really give advice.., esppecially since my eyes are bad already...

I can offer nothing till you get a better camera O.o.

This sucks. Being that you're one of the better advisors amongst the Marth boards, BlueDeath, I was really hoping to get your input. Well, maybe next time.

Awww..thanks SOPF..hmmm, I am trying to think of a way to reduce the screen size so it'd have some black space but but a better image..hard to do that on youtube.

I can still give it a shot but I warn you, I'm blind.

ah..did you convert it to wmv? those are really small files and do fine.

On your opening approach..you got really high and were without your second jump..err..that screams "**** me", reframe from this. Being in the air without your second jump spells death against falcon. You did this alot throughout the match.

I won't comment on the f-smash since you got to it already.

Your approaches need to be mixed up. You approached from the air too much as well, marth has great grabs, use them..

That was a good d-air on the falcon, but when he teched it..instead of just edgeguarding him, you got too happy and did a rising d-air, break that habit.

You didn't try shieldgrabbing much..or if any by what I seen...wait, I seen it around three times but you really didn't follow it up.

On your edgeguarding, it needs work....lol

That falcon wasn't too great, no offense to him, he was all offense at times but then let the pressure off for no reason. but he seems like your peer player so thats good.

you didn't seem to have any surefire combos, at low to mid %'s, f-throw to d-tilt works on falcon. But combos come in time..Good going on your win.

Keep in mind I'm looking for errors when I watch videos.

Thanks BlueDeath for the comments.
As to the shieldgrabbing I know I should use it more it just seemes that when I try to my cousins uses a back DI'd Nair and the second hit seems to connect a lot of the time. In all actuality, looking back I feel ashamed of this vid. I was playing extremely poorly and can see many flaws. I'll practice with the switching between aerial and grounded approaches and comboing. But thanks again.
Oh, and I'll try to get another video up soon with the incorporation of some of your advice.

Also with the whole Dair happy thing. You're right. I just do that to screw around and have some fun.

How long have you been playing marth? You are doing okay it would seem..but please give a better video, I really couldn't say too much about it besides the obvious.

Also, don't worry too much about your spacing errors, you'll learn spacing with time.

It seems like both of you dived in to attack a lot of the time and this will **** you against a good, grab-combo happy Falcon. The best way to play against Falcon, since he has no projectile is to bait him into going for an attack. Then punish him with a grab. There's a certain percentage (around 50-60) where you can uthrow to Fsmash Falcon (or regrab).

IMO, after being ***** for a good few hours against a good Falcon, this is now one of my better matchups. The key is to never enter with an overly laggy attack unless you know it will hit, or that's a lot of % for you. You have to stop Falcon in his tracks with an over B, dtilt or jab, catch him off guard and grab him. Fair/autocancel Nair baiting works well on bigger stages.

I saw a few Fsmash opportunities which you declined and proceeded with an aerial. Do *whatever it takes* to get him off the edge and edgeguard for your life. A good way to edgeguard him is to keep your back towards the stage. If he comes high, Fsmash (or grab if he gets past you). If he returns low, FF ledge grab. Dtilt works well on Falcons who don't sweetspot.

D-tilt works well on Falcon whether he tries to sweetspot or not.

Imo your edgeguarding needs improvement and you should refrain from over celebrating. He got back on the stage one time because you got overexcited about the spike and panicked after he teched. You also overly dance dashed after the KO one time and he made you pay. A tip for you would be to try and chain grab fast falling characters, or grab him, up throw and then get in a couple of up tilts. Hope the advice helps. :)

Chain grabbing has no reference to this matchup what so ever, marth cannot chaingrab falcon despite him being a fast faller, marth can only chaingrab fox and falco whiterob.

Basic knowledge robwhite, most people won't listen to you if you don't know the basics and don't give info unless you are sure.

Chaingrabs are like the basic of the basic really of general knowledge.
