How exactly do you perform the slightly diagonal up-B with Marth?
I asked my friend about it, and he told me that it had to do with timing. He didn't elaborate much though. =/ Could someone explain?
Thanks in advance

I'm not so sure it's about timing, but about how much you tilt the control stick after the Up-B. It's not that hard as long as you know how high it goes in order to sweetspot the edge. As far as timing is concerned, I suggest tilting the control stick diagonally immediately after inputting the Up-B, that will get you some horizontal distance, but as this is Marth, we all know he can't get much.

Yeah, just kind of roll the control stick from up to left/right when you do it. It's hardly noticable though.

Right when you do the Dolphin Slash, jam the control stick in the direction you are going. It's much more noticable will Roy though...

Yeah Marth's up B is all about timing. Do yah mean his reverse Dolphin slash? It has better knock back and all that. But uhh...could yah throw more detail regarding your question? =P

Unless you already have the answer you seek.

There are two versions of the regular upB (works reversed as well). It's just like Roy's where you can get horizontal distance. You just have to upB and hit right or left fast. Sort of like doing a rising point but instead of right or left to up, you need to do up to right or left. It IS noticeable. It doesn't have the distance of Roy's upB but it does have decent range.

theres ALOT of timing involved and you will be probably have to go into practice mode heavily to master this technique. On the 26th frame of the dolphin smash u have to jam the control in the perpendicular direction of the Up+B motion. After this on the 28 and 30th frame u have to then jam the control stick left counter-clockwise right. If u do this correctly u should hear Marth make a coin like noise he leaves a trail of gold dust behind him.

I don't know, once I realized how to do it with Roy, the timing for Marths just came randomly. Just jam the control stick either left or right to travel, slightly, in your desired direction.
And lol at Brightside.
