Marth + Nair?

I was doing a friendly match, and managed to catch Marth in a Nair (with snake of course)

and after the first kick, Marth managed to UpB out of it.

so uh...was this a fluke? or are there characters who can actually counter right out of Nair?

If they DI properly they can avoid a kick long enough to do certain moves packed with invincibility. However, this often means they are Di'ing away from you, which means you should control your momentum to follow them.

ah, sounds like that could have happened, it was just odd that marth has little horizontal movement but managed to hit me with it anyway

yea dude he smash di outa nair, i do it all the time depending on how u get hit i can escape up+ out of it or out to the side. then he spammed up B and hit u.

Also another thing to consider is that Marth's Up-B activates on frame 1 and has invincibility frames up to frame 5, when the hitbox comes out. It's possible (I wouldn't know) that the hitstun from the NAir's first kick doesn't last long enough for the second to connect.
Or he Smash DIed out of it. Either works.

Marths ub-b has invincabilty frames so its possible for him to use UP-b before the 2nd hit comes out.
