I've seen some people do it in matches, but it never really looks all that useful. I tried learning it today, but didn't do too well, and since it doesn't look THAT great, I stopped.

Am I missing something crucial, and if I am, what are some tips on doing it properly?

The only "useful" application I can think of is using it as a mixup when the opponent is sitting in shield or something. moonwalk -> super momentum dash grab is pretty fast.

Anything else is even more situational.

It's just cool. I actually do it in matches to grab the right edge if I don't have to hurry.

Edit: this was my 1000th post. Lol

And what a great post it was, too!

Anyways, I guess it's not all that pressing I figure it out, then. Thanks, guys.

Obviously, if anyone has any counterpoints, bring 'em.

walk or wavedash in the direction you want to moonwalk first. it's really easy.

Walk in the direction opposite of where you want to wavedash, once Marth has built up max speed walking that direction do a half circle down to the other direction and HOLD that direction.
I use to do it without holding back and was wondering why it wouldn't work.

Moonwalk --> Edgehog gets you hype points if people are watching.

you can use moonwalking to do fancy looking movement trickies and even some edgeplay (moonwalk into edge-grab into ledge-hopped dair is mad mad mad hype)

but as dart said, it's impractical so therefore not a required tech. It's a learn it only if you want to tech lol
