Marth Basically Confirmed

Last night's update showed demos you can play that show you which games characters came from. On the English page, there is nothing special posted.

But if you look on the Japanese page, you see Mother 2 (in which Ness was the main character) and Fire Emblem 3 (which starred Marth).

So yeah, Marth basically confirmed.

I wouldn't go that far - they're hardly going to include a Path of Radiance demo, so it makes sense for them to put in a series representative rather than a character representative.

This does add a lot of credit to Marth, considering if it were just for Ike I imagine they'd use FE4 instead of FE3, since it's widely more popular. All I can say to this is: This better be on the American/Euro version of the game, and they better port FE3 to the American/Euro VC. I'd actually be a little pissed if we got screwed out of a part of the game (even if it is just a Demo).

Sorry but it doesn't confirm anything. Ike debuted on the Gamecube so they couldn't very well use his game, even if he were the only character. Not that it matters because Marth is very likely anyway.

I fear thats probably not going to happen, since they'd have to go to extra effort translating it to do so. But then again, theres always the chance they're going to do so anyway and release the full game on the virtual console, so I guess its a possibility.

It's really not, since Samus and Ridley are both from Metroid yet Marth is the only one in FE3. If this game had Marth and Ike in it and I said Marth confirmed when it was clearly meant to show Ike, then it'd be the same thing.

Right, but then that would mean Mother 2 was posted to show Lucas, and we know this isn't the case since (1) Ness is 99.99% confirmed and (2) Mother 3 was a GBA game, so it'd be easy to port.

Why in the hell are people saying this doesn't prove anything? Marth is the main character of FE3, they wouldn't put the **** game in Brawl unless he was in. And don't use the Ridley argument to compare them. They wouldn't put a game that stars Marth if Marth wasn't in, as the whole point of the Masterpieces thing in Brawl is to play the game the CHARACTERS in Brawl starred in that are known to be classics. While with Ridley, he isn't the star of Super Metroid. Samus is. Super Metroid is Samus' game, not Ridley's.

Of course, it confirms nothing, but i'd be willing to say it does help Marth's inclusion, especially considering that Earthbound is there and we know that Ness is in.

And for all the idiots going, "OMGZ Ridley confirmed!!!", here's something to think about. Ridley was not the main character in Super Metroid, but Marth was the main character in Fire Emblem 3, and that update does talk of the past fights of the characters.

Isn't it strange how the other games he puts up have their main character confirmed?

I love how you're all so petty in trying to debunk a THEORY with some actual grounding that you decide to choose a character who isn't the star of one of the games as an example.

I don't think FE1 was released on VC, only FE3 and FE4. But either way, my previous argument of them using FE4 instead of FE3 still stands. It's more popular, and Sigurd resembles Ike moreso than Marth does.

I could easily see Nintendo translating FE3 for american VC, to hype both FE11(DS) and to allow the demo in Brawl. They've already done it for a few other obscure games I believe. I'd buy it.

FE3 is both a sequel and remake of FE1. It takes FE1, removes a chapter I think, calls that "Book 1", and then adds it's own "Book 2" to it, which continues the adventures of Marth.
