Sheik, Fox, and Falcon are the popular choices to pair with Marth. Basically any fast player with easy KO moves pairing with a good camping/grabbing Marth will do well.

if friendly fire is on i'll go with fox yes yes, but if it's off samus is the perfect partner because she does what you can't and that is put the press from far away ya know so you can get the kills from close ya know.

The problem with this theory, is that no one will every play competetively with friendly fire off.

As for marth/link on a team...

I've had better luck smashing my face into my gamecube.

Well, all that i know is that link and marth on any lvl; friendly fire off is a pretty well balanced match. I'll see if it pays at the tournament.

Being the benevolent soul that I am, I will save you your money...it doesnt pay. No real tournament plays with friendly fire off and even if they did teams like marth falco and marth fox, samus peach etc... would still be better. So yea save your money go invest in real estate or something.

Link relies too much on projectiles, and in teams projectiles get iffy =p.
Especially with a marth who needs a fast char to be teamed up with so he doesn't get boned in 2v1

Well actually, ive been playing with this kid for a good three years and we are pretty well balanced. we'll see soon enough if 3 years of playing over 2,000 matches and 20 different sets of 99 lives pays off.

Yes but link can also save you as well with projectiles. Once i was playing with me and my friend who is link (under tournament conditions) and he threw a boomerang at me and gave me another jump. Once again, we are very well balanced.

I'm confused now, I cant tell if you are a real poster or someone trolling. If youre trolling dont lay it on so thick you have to keep the audience capitivated, but too many over the top details will blow your cover.

And if you're serious....(oh man) think of it this way you can practice how to play basketball or anything for 3 years but if you don't play with proper rules and use proper drills the training will likely be for naught.

Just for reference, most teams matches are played like this:

Best 2/3
Random Stages:
Final Destination
Pokemon Stadium
Battlefield
Dreamland 64
Yoshi's Story

-1 stage ban for each team

4 stocks, 8 minutes time limit, team attack ON

I just felt this needed to be stated in case there was some confusion as to how teams matches are played in TOURNAMENTS.

if friendly fire is off, i strongly suggest showing them how wrong they are in this choice with gay moves like marth grab + peach dsmash = free 60%.

otherwise, you guys must have some amazing stage movement for link's projectiles to not hamper marth's movements. playing link and restricting your projectiles is a waste, imo; so is playing marth while having your movements be dictated by where your partner isn't attacking.
if your friend has an alt character, it'd probably be a better choice, since marth is a tall target and has low mobility in the air, making it easy for him to get hit by link's items and hard for him to move effectively in spite of them.

All of this would have been better for practicing purposes with friendly fire turned on if you plan on playing most "real" tourneys. If you plan on playing with your friends and such you can ignore this. But try friendly fire off a few times and realize how much more it requires you to think and play smarter since you need to be careful to not kill your partner.

personally i played a marth link team and me and my partner did pretty good i was marth he was link and our stragey was basically ill get them off the stage and he'll spam u-b to keep them off and good way to pull of team combos by grabing a throwing to your partner

I play Marth and partner with my friend who plays Link usually with friendly fire off. We won 8 times in a row againts Marth and Falco. I usually stay with my partner so he can do whatever he does (Up B?) and I do lots of F-smashes. Kinda confuses the enemies and don't see the F-smash that easily since it's pretty fast and everything is busy.

I agree with Dots. You would kill your partner so many times that you would win.. Most kills FTW!! Who needs partners. 2 v 1 is how Marth plays. Okay, I'm done. Again, your partner's character should depend on you and your partner's styles.

Me and my Cousin play a Marth and Link team as well and to be honest even with occaisonal friendly fire mistakes the team works out quite well.

And Marth and Link have a cool Back to back taunt that just makes opponents mad after the final stock of there last character is right near depletion.

I would say Marth and Shiek make the perfect team cause shiek adds in the speed he needs and Marth adds in the strenth she needs.
