Mario's Tornado Spin

I've seen some videos of people using Mario's Tornado Spin to spike their opponents. However, when I've tried it the move either sends the opponent flying upward or to the sides. How do I spike opponents with it?

You have to be above the person when the last hit hits them. Press B rapidly to control Mario up or down while doing it.

It also has to hit his foot. His very, very awesome foot.

It takes some practice to be able to do it consistently. The most common mistake is pressing B too rapidly and having the opponent fall out of the tornado spin. Try to keep the opponent in mario's lower body and they will be spiked on the last hit.

It won't work if your opponent DIs.

Thats where luigi does have an advantage. He can use his down b and if anyone touches him, the get auto spiked.

On another note, and I'm stating the obvious, but Mario's the only one with a spiking tornado.

That's not a spike, a spike is like a attack that makes your opponent go straight down.
