Since we're probably not going to get anything from MLG in terms of a stream, it's time that we use technology and actually get something of our own. I found a solution for us, and it certainly is better than nothing. The website is called Qik, and it allows you to use your phone and record and upload video streams of whatever you're recording with it. The streams have about a delay, but they are streamed within a minute online. Anyone can watch the videos while they are streaming, and once the video is ended, Qik processes the stream and turns it into a stand-alone video for anyone to watch.
This would be example of a stream converted to a video

Now, another cool feature is that people can actually COMMENT on your video while it's streaming, which pops up on your screen so that you can reply to them. Granted there is a little latency, but you're able to respond to people in such a manner. Due to the nature of the stream->video, I would highly suggest that after every match, you end your recording and create a new stream. This makes it much easier for people to find what they are looking for, and prevents people from dealing with a unwieldy video or never ending stream.
This could be used to do interviews, commentary, and even record matches if you can get a good enough angle. I'm going to HOBO this weekend, and so I'll probably post a test feed link up so that we can test the viability of it. The obvious downsides to this technology are:
1) Battery life. You're going to go through it using both the camera and data upload. Lucky for me, I have four batteries.
2) Internet required on your phone. Unlimited data plan preferred.
3) A need for good coverage for your cell phone at the event.
It's incredibly to do if your phone is supported by it. You link your phone to your account, and download a program for your phone. With a click of a button you'll start to broadcast, and with another click the broadcast ends. Everything is taken care of on the website by automatic processes.
Thoughts?
