well i tried this little idea i had, i thought if i downloaded every single file from another character and renamed them to another character, and just place ever single renamed file in the character folder, it would work. but the only character it came even CLOSE to working was well... Jiggle puff, but it didn't work. it just locked up, i just wanted to replace someone like Lucas with Link so i can have Zero PSA i mean its nice, but i don't want to AXE link, someone i grew up on from older games just to play a character i don't even know >_>

i was also hoping this would work, cause i wanted to replace ROB with a copy of Samus so i can have darksamus without getting rid of Samus i want to make an attack hack of Dark samus, but well i don't want to get rid of Samus i want her to fight well her arch enemy >_>...

anythoughts how i can do this? cause i have 10 characters i am willing to axe for this.

1.YOSHI
2.WARIO
3.DIDDY-KONG
4.KING-DEDEDE
5.NESS
6.LUCAS
7.JIGGLY-PUFF
8.ROB
9.OLIMAR
10.MR.GAY MAN WATCH

i would like to know how to totally redo them...

One for the Zero PSA hack, and TWO for the Dark samus i am planning on working on.

any thoughts?

Well, if you really did get every single file from one character and put it on another, but it didn't work, wouldn't that mean your theory is busted?

no i didn't put the models in, i just replaced all the files from another character and called it that, i thought it would work, it seemed to make sense from all other games i've modified.

Not models, modules.

And it won't work because of the module files. Module files are... I don't know how to describe them. I'll leave that to TSONO.

They tell the game what to load and how to load it and a bunch of important information like that, basically. That's an extremely simplified explanation.

OOH, lulz, i thought they made it simple... <_< oh well. i learned, i kind of worked with Jigglypuff, i mean for about 2 whole seconds, you would see link summoning in on his tornado thing, and then BEEEEEP.

I am genuinely awestruck that you managed to make it even that far. There are a host of functions that can only work under even the most strictest circumstances and a dozen or so ID checks that the module has to go through before it gets accepted (the one that caused it to freeze was one - it only checks during gameplay) I suppose that would be the logical outcome though, seeing as Jigglypuff has absolutely no articles or special routines. (which are what make up the majority of the ID checks) But that still doesn't explain the fact that a character simply will not and cannot even access the module if the IDs don't match up (Jigg's ID references only the spot in memory where Jigg's module gets loaded - whereas Link's is in an entirely different location)

Good try though - I'm going to look into this some more and see if I overlooked something.

So basically, putting Link's module file over Jigglypuff's and naming everything correctly will result in the module going, "lulz, I'm gonna try to load Link's pac from Link's folder anyway"?
