Lyman is a character from the Garfield franchise, he was very prevalent early on, being the original owner of Garfield's sidekick Odie the dog.
Before Garfield a similar character named Lyman appeared in Gnorm Gnat, which author Jim Davis wrote first.
Lyman was written out of the comic strip in 1983, and only made a few more appearances from there.
He did appear in The Garfield Show and made some other Cameos, but he has been entirely ignored by most versions of the Garfield canon.
However Lyman still remains a fan favorite and has a surprising amount of moveset potential for his small amount of appearances.
