Luigi's misfire...random..or not?!?!?!

Is the misfire really random....

I got the feeling while I play in tournies that I tend to get a lot more misefires then I should normally if it was considered random. For instance, last tourney I was playing reflex in the finals, and i literally got the misfire 3 times in a row. During that match alone i must have gotten at least 6 misfires. I started messing around afterwards tryin to see if theres some kind of pattern to it, and it tends to happen more frequently at higher damage. Does anyone else think it may have a more probability to happen at a specific time? (I.E. I heard game and watchs "9" hammer in melee came out every 18 seconds or sumthin, possibly something similar with luigi?

Hmm sounds like something worth looking into. I know Peach has a higher chance of pulling bob-ombs and beam swords when the timer gets low in time matches. I don't see why Luigi couldn't have something similar. I do know in melee it was 1/8 though.

Yeah, that happend to me but I was playing against the computer. I think it is random (like the Green Missile).

12.5% When you are experimenting with it but when you really need one it's 2% and when it is not the right timing for one "I'm comin' up with 33.33% Repeating of course"

It's not random. You just have to do it right. Just keep trying. You'll get it eventually. It's all about the timing and the angle that you press it in.

There's no question that it's not truly "random", only pseudo-random. Whether or not we can find out exactly how it is determined and reliably repeat it is a different matter. Although I'm all for it; if you could misfire on command, Luigi would be even more crazy dangerous. KO at crazy low percents every time.

Yea thats what I'm more leaning towards, finding out if it can be repeated every "x" number of seconds. (Melee game and watches hammer every 18 seconds from what i hear sparks a 9.

It's more of an idea anyways, i'm not saying it is or isn't random at this point. Even though it's more then likely random.

It's arbitrary, 1/8 chance. With tripping and other "party friendly" stuff added to Brawl, why would Sakurai make the misfire possible to do at will? If it were possible, it would've been found. I'm sure every Luigi (at least myself) have looked for a way.

It's like saying you can win the loto at will if you pull the ticket out of the machine in a certain way, or put it in a specific amount of money. You just have better chances with the misfire than the loto.

I don't think it's intentionally possible... in fact, it's probably based on milliseconds and therefore impossible for a human repeat it. The only way to find out is to record what frame it's executed and the results, many hundreds of times.

JEEEZ PEOPLE ITS BEEN LIEK THIS SICNE MELEE, everyone assumes tehres sum trick to it cuz they do it a bunch of times in a row, ive done mroe than 7 in a row, btu tehf act remaisn tehre is NO trick to it. it as a 12.5% chance to missfire. it is NOT like G+W hammer, that was differnt there were rules to that, such as the same hamemr never apeared within 2 hammers of itself. and yeah the 9 seconds thing or w.e

luigi missfire has nothing to do with that it is full based on the probability of 12.5 % theoretical probability.
although the experimental probability will nto always match that.
