My ledgehop game is horrible. And i haven't seen any discussion of it on these forums.... i consider these problems linked. So i am making an attempt to kill two birds with one stone in this topic. right now, out of a ledgehop i usually use uair. i don't like to fair because it often trades hits and get me back off the ledge. i don't like to nair because i use as a kill move and i don't want it to diminish unless i know i'll hit. I actually WANT my uair to diminish because i never kill with it, i only use it for juggling. i have yet to experiment with the use of specials with the ledgehop. This leaves me with only one solid option to ledgehop (imo), and that makes me extremely predictable. Please help.(both me and any luigi mainer struggling with their ledgehop game)

So, what do you use, why? Do you think what i'm doing is good/bad and why? discuss.

Well when I am on the ledge I usually fast fall off, then quickly jump and do a Uair, fast fall a nair, then up tilt immediately. It works a lot better than most other methods of safely getting off the edge, adn can do around 30%... Other than that I never actually do the full jump off the ledge, its too easy to predict most of the time I think, but thats just me...

You could stall with ledge hopped fireballs to create the space for a safe landing or the time you need to get to the stage. You could also ledge hop an air dodge to switch things up.

Does that work? Is it hard to perform?

By ledge hop do you mean jumping straight from ledge? or dropping down then jumping. I always thought of it as the latter.

A good oppenent will keep him/herself spaced from you when your on the ledge. Use mind games when your on the ledge. Like drop down, fastfall, and jump with a fireball. After that, once you think you got them caught in the fireball act, come down, fastfall, jump and followup with a tornado so they'll be caught off guard. From there you should be in for a juggle unless they shield it or they stopped your tornado. But beware of it's ending lag though as you can easily get punished. Mix it the mindgame abit, always fastfall, use Nair or Fair, or Dair. But if the battle is aggressive paced, then do Bair to keep yourself spaced. Use Upair if your oppenent isn't well spaced and is near you.

Wow in my experience you have many options.

a) if opponent is really close to the edge, super jump punch him (this is highly unlikely cause good players won't be close.)

b) Fast falled Nair.

c) Fast falled Fair when opponent is at a moderate distance from the ledge.

d) Fireball stall.

e) Fast Falled Uair.

These are just techniques to get you to touch the floor of the stage.

He basically sums it up, but you forgot to include tornado! It comes sometimes pretty handy =]
