Luigi vs pikachu

Hi everyone, I'm new to smashboards, this is my first post but I have been reading all the forums about Luigi. I used to main Snake, but I love Luigi's aerials so he's my favorite now.

I've gotten pretty good at using him, but I have the hardest time fighting a Pikachu. They always spam B + Down and you can't air dodge it because it lasts too long.
They also use it to edge guard, but I've gotten pretty good at sweet spotting the edge so that isn't really a problem anymore.

Pikachu is generally faster than Luigi and he is good at aerials too, so any tips for fighting him would be greatly appreciated.

I have played 3 decent pikachus and what I have learned is that Pikachu is definately a weakness for Luigi like they said. The 2 big attacks being the down-b spin thing, and thunder when they get you in the air.

What I do is I try not to leave the ground and to bombard them with plenty of quick d smash and u smashes. If you can't get pikachu in the air, you should win the game.

However Pikachu always proves a hard matchup for my Luigi, same as Ike and a couple others.

Imo game and watch counters luigi like no other. His key thing has priority over any of luigi's aerials.Pikachus ground game is tough for luigi as well, but like stated above,once u get pika in the air, it becomes much easier.

Personally, I don't feel like pikachu is that bad of a match-up for luigi. I'd suggest uploading some vids of you playing vs a pikachu to get some good feedback about what things you may want to improve on.

As far as dealing with pika's down b, it may sound obvious but just keep in mind that you should be able to airdodge it as long as you keep moving horizontally.
