well wolf and fox are "pretty" different....
Yea i know but i was mainly referring to their speed. Wolf is way slower but i have a harder time. Idk. i can keep fox away from me but wolf eats my face. just saying i have trouble with wolf and that hes the slowest of the space animals.

Jiggly causes lucas problems imo and is one of the few chars that make life very difficult of the edge for lucas :(

Actually, I'm having a tough time with Wolf, too. Spacing him out is impossible, his Fsmash moves him and he doesn't return to his original position, his USmash ***** my face, I can't roll away from his DSmash without getting hit, can't grab immediately out of it (DSmash spam is the worst...) and I get edge-camped by, of all things, his laser... eats my PKT or stuns me and causes me to drop significantly before I can start up PKT again. =( HELPZ PLZ!

I think Snake can be a troublesome matchup. I find his dashing atk to be hard to avoid, especially when approaching with SH. His AAA is also annoying.

The only guy I have real trouble against is Wario. His attacks come out fast and out prioritize me -_-

Wario is all about air game, and his over smash (Which is pretty much is killing move). His bike can block the PKF also, which can be annoying as hell. I would spam his PKT for edge guarding though, it can mess him up a bit (I main Wario also so yeah).

Wolf I don't find all that bad of a match up. I think that there can be way worse matchs. If he spams his laser, just Down B it or dodge it. Spam his PKF like something crazy, and use the stick of powa when he gets close.

In my opinion, Toon Link can be hell.
He has 3 tricks up his sleeve: The bomb, that **** bomerang, and the arrow (Which I don't mind that much).
I think his bombs are hard to dodge though. My friend mains him, and it's hard to recover at times because he spams alot of those projectile moves.
I also find it hard to use the PKF when you short hop it because TLink is so small compaired to other characters =/

And belive it or not, I hate Lucas dittos with a pasion >_>

I'm thinking that Lucas's lack of a fast shield grab is actually why he's got issues with wolf. The PKF isn't gonna out-camp him, unless he's bad or something, and if you psi magnet the laser, you'll find him using the fsmash or up b as a quick punishment for that. (At the last tourney I went to, I faced 3 wolves, and the last one was the one that sent me to losers bracket)

Also, Ness has trouble with wolf.

So what steps can we take to beat the wolf?

Down smash is useful for an f smashy wolf, and always chase him off the edge with a PKT because his recovery is terrible. A lot of the time if he has decent damage you can knock him away from the edge far enough that he can't recover.

DDD is tough for me, the things that he throws eat my projectiles like a *****

Then when i try to get close he either shield grabs and me and throws or smashes me, when i manage to get him hit or up in the air the hammer out reaches me,

I will have to say , I beleive Wolf and Zelda are some quite difficult matchup for lucas. They push him back so easy.

Zelda's cake. If she fires at you, you get to gain 2.5 as much as she would have done, and you get forever to see it coming. Just keep her at a distance, or get really close, whichever you prefer. If she gets the right spacing, you're dead from the kick. Also, be wary of approaching her in general. Her Fsmash hurts a lot, but has enough lag to let you in after. Also, PK fire a bunch.

I'd say Toon Link hands down. His DownA is really annoying and although you can delay it with Pk Thunder, it keeps going down.. I think that projectiles are easy.. Maybe not when you're trying to recover, but you can always block. I also find Toon Links Side A really annoying. I block the first hit and then try to roll behind him as he slashes his sword a 2nd time but a lot of times that's unsuccessful. So Toon Link up close is deadly when you're at a high %. And our Up Smash is really hard to land. I've only gotten lucky to land it at Final Destination when my brother[Mains Toon Link] was being careless.

I don't know how many of you have had the "delight" of playing against a very skilled Dedede, but the one I face slaughters me.

I have no trouble with him using Ness, however ...

Any character with physical projectiles that can out-camp you. This includes Snake and Toon Link among the top two. I've found Lucas to be effective against DeDeDe, you just have to keep hitting him with PK Fire and your upair for the ****, then **** his recovery with an upsmash.

The timing is tricky, but if Wario's charing at you with the bike, I found that if you release PSI Magnet on him he'll just fall off. I haven't really run into a skilled Wario player yet, but those I've come up against I usually am able to outrun at the very least, which comes in handy for sure.

I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned having trouble with Marth. My friend has become quite skilled with him, and his speed/combo potential seems to trip me up quite a bit with Lucas. I usually wind up having to switch to Sonic to effectively fight my friend when he's using Marth.

Only problems i have are link and toon link, projectile spam ftl.
Lucas stick reflect owns projectile spam. Arrows are easy to bat and if you bat his boomerang it auto returns with a guaranteed hit. to deal with bombs just learn to grab items in the air, it is so much easier to do in brawl. The projectile game isn't as strong in brawl as it was in melee.

Toon, DDD, Snake, Kinda Marth.

DDD+Snake is obvious. Toon is just incredibly annoying. Marth is just a *** like always.

And there is no way you should have trouble with Pit. His camping ability is 0 against Lucas. He's only left with ok aerials at best.

lol, Lucas is a marth counter. PK fire is your friend, and wavebouncing means that marth can't just dodge it and punish you.

Against pit, force an approach by bat reflecting an arrow, then psi magnet the rest. When he tries to approach, use bstick pk fires (so that his reflector doesn't reflect them far enough to hit you. You can outcamp him to death.

I'm not sure what changed with DDD, but I don't have a rough time with him anymore. If you still do, learn Ness because he has an easy time with both peach and DDD (and guarantees a kill at 130% with his bthrow). Ness is also good because his playstyle is so different from lucas (and people assume they play similarly) that you'll catch the opponent by surprise on a counterpick.

I'm not lucas main. but my friend is. And I can usually kick his butt with G&W. The bucket is lucas's downfall. He's able to match lucas's speed pretty well too. I can't tell you how many times I've bucketed a recovering Lucas's PKT. Of course if the lucas is zap jumping it is a different story.

Our Up Smash is really hard to land. I've only gotten lucky to land it at Final Destination when my brother[Mains Toon Link] was being careless.
It's easier to land in full matches because it strikes those who are on the ground close to you as well as those above you, so you could do something like camp at the side of Final Destination, start a charged up smash, and by the time someone's run over to you you've released it and they're thrown in the air.

Physical spammers do suck for Lucas >,,<

DDD can outcamp Lucas and has the annoying chain grab. Just work on down dodging and shield grab moves that are laggy enough that you know you'l get it. Toon Link is a character you have to beat on skill alone, no tricks here. He out prioritizes, out spams and has a tether grab that makes the game all about who is literally better. Snake thankfully is a match up where all of Lucas's combo's work.

I faced a really good fox, I lost because he was better skilled but I can't help but notice that Lucas is slow. I rely on the jab combo and nair to tilts but I constantly was beat to the punch by the fox. PKF spam were reflected with ease and my only reliable hits were Lucas's disjointed aerials. I know b-stick seems like a must for Lucas but I'm working on c-stick aerials since I think having disjointed attacks that aren't constantly shield grabbed are going to be important for Lucas's future. That and wavebounce is something I've been doing manually for a while now.

You really just have to play defensive/campy and have good reflexes. Also realize what's not working and change your style, make him adjust to you. Wolf is pretty good at KOs, but bad at damage building without that laser.

Techno, the reason I brought up lucas's shield game is because the of the 3 wolves that I faced, the only one that beat me was the one that could out-camp me. The reflex thing is a good idea, what's your reaction to the lasers? The stick reflector or the magnet? or pk fire cancel it?
