As you know, our beloved main Lucas is considered low tier.
But we all know that is not right,Lucas has a ton of potential.
This is what I have figured out...Lucas would be top tier
if he didnt have the following problems:
-Marth's Death grab
-Low priority aerials
-Slow smashes(except side smash)
-Laggy grab

Those 4 things is what is keeping Lucas back
and besides that, if more pros would play him more they will grow to like Lucas he is very fun to play and easy to adapt too (feels like playing Ness for the first time in SB64)
Alot of people dont know about him b/c his one game only came out in Japan.
I believe the Japanese players who have played Mother 3 love Lucas and like playing him in brawl more than we Americans.

The reason I think Lucas could possibly be top/higher tier material is because he can pretty much beat/has an advantage over most of the top tier/higher tier characters including:
-Snake
- Olimar
- Falco
- R.O.B.
-Pikachu
- Dedede,
-and others I cant think of(maybe Wario too)

His main weaknesses is G&W, Marth, Toon Link, and of course Metaknight.
We have to find a way to defeat these characters and give Lucas a good name so hopefully he will move up on the tier list.

Thanks for reading this:)
If Im wrong about some things correct me...lol
Im a noob, but I do know a good character when I see one.
Can we discuss

This discussion is already happening at the matchup discussion thread. There's some useful info there. Don't have hopes for Lucas ever being 'top tier' at this point (unless a patch happens... HA). When it comes to being fun to play, Lucas is top tier for that.

I disagree that those four flaws make Lucas a 'low tier' character.

Marth's Death grab. So, that's one botched matchup. Tier consideration has to do with how he deals with the entire roster in general, so this isn't the fatal flaw.
Low priority aerials. Doesn't Lucas's d-air knock MK out of his Shuttle Loop?
Slow smashes(except side smash). Only his u-smash is stupidly slow. The stick and triple hexagon bomb are both great attacks.
Laggy grab. His grab has range, so it's easier to nab people if you do it out of a shield or something. It's not one of his better moves.

That's the H2YL tier list, it's not the official one. It's made by EC pros based on THEIR experience. Ever notice how high Kirby and Lucario are? Chu and Azen could prolly tell you.

^Rope Snake for top tier!

IMO, Lucas is extremly underplayed. Of the people I play, only one other person uses him at all. Most tier lists are based on tournament rankings, and how can he do well if he isn't played?

I wish he had more AT's that didnt have to be b-sticked.
Its hard for some people to get used to that.
I still think there r some AT's we havnt discovered yet for Lucas that could be gamebreaking

I don't have your optimism.
I realized the only AT I ever really used much was the one that pushes you back when you PKF (I don't bother memorizing the tech names), but since its easy enough to do without a b-stick, I've reverted to default controls. It takes an annoying amount of time to set custom controls before a tourney match anyway (and you'd have to do it again every time you played on a new setup).

Yeah, there is actually such thing as a steep learning curve. THe spacing and timing that Lucas equires is pretty hard to master.

Ya I could never find a situation where a pivot grap could help.
You can do Quick Pivot Grabbing (Which is a Standing Pivot Grab) By Double Sticking (Control Stick one way, Grab, then C-Stick the other way in a rapid succession), or by Single Sticking (Jerk the Stick back and forth Quickly + Grab).

Also, The C-Stick needs to be on Smash if you're going to Double Stick.

Metaknight and Ike
Metaknight, maybe, but are you sure about Ike? I don't believe that characters are that hard to learn. You just spend time with them and you begin to form your own strategies with them naturally. It's an overused term.

Also, I don't see why Lucas's spacing and timing is any harder than any other character's spacing and timing.
