Lucas recovery technique (Very basic)

Since there is no DJC in Brawl, doing an aerial directly after Ness's/Lucas's jump won't cut off the jumps momentum. Since aerial attacks in Brawl give your character momentum, I simply used Lucas's Dair about 1/2 second after executing his second jump. The result is it gives you more Horizontal coverage with his jump.

I did this many times at a tournament I attended, but I need someone who actually has Brawl to test it out. It may not be ground breaking, but I just wanted to share.

Try it out. ^_^

Ha, interesting.

Though not terrible effective, if it can mean the difference between having to use PK thunder or the snake, it'll be pretty useful.

Thanks! I'll try it next time I play.

Tried it, effect is either negligible or nonexistant.

Unless I'm doing it wrong, but I highly doubt it'll need to used much even if it does work.

Has anyone tried vidjo's technique? I don't know if it was meant to be a joke or not... If you haven't read his post before he edited it, basically, you run, short hop and pk fire in the opposite direction and then rapidly smash the stick the opposite direction (towards where your momentum carries you) and down+b. It supposedly carries you over half of FD. People say I'm gullable :'(

I've done that before, minus the part where you smash the stick in the direction you're going. It DOES have an effect and DOES make you slide. It's just a PK waveland going with your momentum. Goes kinda far, too. Maybe it goes farther when I do that last part. I'll have to try tomorrow.

Hmmm. I know I have done this many times before.

There was one instance where I didn't even need to use PK thunder for my recovery.

I don't have the timing down exactly, but there is a time where it needs to be executed. Many of Lucas's aerials give momentum, but they just need to be timed right, if it's even significant at all for that matter.

Oh well.:(

Oh, I thought you could do that off-stage hence saving your second jump when recovering D:
No, for the PK fire thing some of the distance comes from the slide when you hit the ground.

And EPP, in all likelyhood I've got the timing down wrong. When do you use it? After the first or second jump? And do you use it at the peak of the jump or what?

I tried a few different combinations and couldn't get it to work.

I use it on the second jump, near the peak of the jump. The second jump gives upwards momentum, so you can do it right after.

I use it when i'm close enough to make it tp the edge with a second jump to make sure that I can land back on the stage safely with an aerial.

It works, but since you only have your second jump (if at all) the effect isn't too big.
The times I used it, I got

1. ***** by edgeguarding (since you're completely vulnerable at the side)
2. Didn't grab the ledge since I was still in the attack animation (and died since Final D has a wierd slant and couldn't PK Thunder in the right angle)

However, if you DI right and is high up in the stage, this tactic works really really well to stall in midair for a while and knock off anyone trying to upair you (Lucas's Dair has really good range)
