There was a demonstration video of lucas' psi magnet with two fox's shooting him from both sides and him turning around in order to absorb both. Many of us thought whats the point in having it look external when hes protected form all around. Then again fox's laser has no knockback or flinching. In a ness vs lucas video it shows ness using his pk thunder to hit lucas from the back with a pk thunder while lucas is using his psi magnet.

Atleast theres some sort of balance between thier B downs. Lucas's has more potential but requirs alot more awareness.

I have a feeling that video is of me, but I can't watch it because I'm at school. What happened was my friend used PK Thunder, and it hit below me and still hit me. Although this could be me deactivating the Psi Magnet right as it hit me (which I think it was), Lucas's Psi Magnet COULD have a weakspot.

Teehee it is of you ~_~

As for the possible weakspot.. interesting. Though it's not going to crush his game, Lucas' psi magnet should have a vulnerablility if Ness' can't 'cause damage or give knockback.

*edit*

Well, just went on the Ness boards and some are recently saying Ness' magnet actually has some sort of pushback without damage >_>. Even still, Lucas' mag should differ to bring balance between the two.

Lucas' absorbs more % also and it is of you mike. Hey mike does bacon ever beat you with ness seems like you come out with the victory when you guys do ness vs lucas all the time. Are you just better or is lucas just better? As a ness main i was hoping they would be equally matched like any character. How does ness aproach a good lcas character like yourself being that his pk fire is more rewarding but more punishable, can't be short hopped and lucas being faster then ness.

Well, his Ness has only beaten me once on tape (1.0003, or something like that), but it still beats me about 1/3-1/2 of the time off tape. Since we have only played for a while, it is hard to distinguish the better character. I would say they are pretty evenly matched, each with their own advantages. It may slightly be in favor of Lucas, though.

I guess I don't really know how to answer your approach question because I don't play Ness, but I do know that Ness's aerials and dash attack are really good for approaching.

I've done repeated tests on this. The Lucas player must have let down his shield at the crucial moment, because Lucas DOES absorb from behind, in the air and otherwise. He turns in mid-air and absorbs. Same effect from the bottom and the top. There is no "weak spot" to get through the shield, believe me. I've been hit from about every angle with Pitt's arrows, as well as things like Pika's Thunder. Also, I don't believe his magnet absorbs more than Ness's. (I tested this, too.) However, it is faster in both activation and deactivation, has the damage/knockback potential, and ABSORBS FROM BOTH SIDES.

Much as I love Ness, I have to say in this particular move Lucas has him beaten hands down. There really is no contest. Still, Ness is a strong character who's at least as able as Lucas. It's just that Ness's strengths lie in other areas.

Yes it does.

Of course, even though Lucas's is better, Ness's certainly serves the purpose, and is much quicker than it was in Melee.
