Lucas break dance kick

Lucas' dtilt looks like he is break dancing...and doing a dash dance with this works well as a taunt :p

But seriously, how do you guys use his down tilt? While I find myself making good use of Ness', I never use Lucas' dtilt, is there something I'm missing, or is there a good use for it? I thought it would be good to break out of jabs or combos or a quick attack to stop someone but his regular jab combo is fast enough and gets the job done, so what are your thoughts?

sometimes i use it after a nair or a fiar if the opponent blocks the attack. I use it instead of the jab combo, but it just for fun. This attack can trip the enemy, and you can follow the attack with a side smash, but this tactic rarely works angaist good players...

Hmm...would it be possible to chain it with the first two jab hits so you get a rhythm of A, A, vA, A, A, vA . . . ? Sounds like a good damage-builder in theory, but idk how it'd work in practice.

Actually, you should spam downtilt two or three more times if the first one connects, it's not a true combo though.

Once the last one hits (before they're out of range) either they've tripped or they haven't. If they haven't, ftilt, fsmash (if they're not paying enough attention), or sh fair. If they've tripped, tech-chase.

I have seen people use dtilt to push people off the stage back onto a ledge but other than that what levitas said is probably the best combo you could come up with it. I personally never use it but I hardly use dsmash either, I'm not big on dtilt/dsmash.

I don't like it that much compared to Ness's. For one thing, you need to tipper with it in order to trip. It does have excellent range though.

Other than that, it can be used to jab lock. See the topic I made for details.

I usually nair -> AA -> Jab cancel -> dtilts -> trip -> Fsmash

Since the dtilt trips pretty often, and there's practically no lag, it usually follows up to fsmash for me :)
