Hey guys

I'm doing a week long class next week for 20-ish guys from my school on smash. I've got my lectures and whatnot mostly planned out, but what would be really helpful is some YT videos that showcase:

-ledge DI (ordinary, like jumping to the ledge and getting dtilted 9 times)

-DI in general (I found some OK TAS ones, but a nice side-by-side of, say, a falcon fair combo with and without proper DI would be a godsend)

-Short-hopping vs stick-hopping vs C-hopping

-That japanese video of Moyashi's hands during w DI which I can't find

Help me out?

Awesome. Record lectures and post to Youtube plz?

for ledge DI pretty sure there are some vids of that on the old TAS accounts like ant-d or jpleal.

for short hop vs stick hop I think malva has a video posted on his stream account of Yoshi jumping back and forth from the top of green tent to middle of Hyrule, which I think you can only do with stick hop. there were some other examples of that too that people had for BTT (something with Kirby BTT, don't remember)

Thanks guys. Tank, good work getting those.

Don't think we'll get recorded lectures and I doubt anyone wants to hear me go over basic smash stuff/answer noob questions for 200 minutes.

You could take S2J's advance how to play, I think they're a good start. Plus we all love S2J.

If you really can't find a DI vid, I could make one. But it would be too noobish compared to what already exists (AntD's especially).

also battlecow if you recorded videos we could put them in the stickies (by which I mean link them to new players every time they come in to the ask a question thread)

You should practice up that Kirby matchup because you will get challenged by a bunch of scrub kirbys
These are all guys that I know, and the ones who play I've played.

I try to split 'em up between pika-fox-kirby-falcon-mario

Sanny (Goky? Sangoky? Doesn't lend itself to shortenization) if you could make a DI vid, I'd definitely show it, although you certainly don't have to do it just for this thing. That said, I think there's room for a good application DI video; all we have on YT is AntD moving 20 feet from a pika Usmash, and since DI is one of the least understood concepts (I didn't entirely get how to apply it myself until I'd been playing for like a year, and I still get scrubs on Kaillera asking me about it constantly) I think a more "this is what it does in-match" video would be useful.

It would be good to have a video showing some situations where DI is easy and useful - like DIing into hyrule walls on usmashes, DIing drills, and DIing falcon's fair

Good idea. It might take more time than just an AntD style DI video. I could still try to do it, but since I don't touch the computer more than 5 minutes per day during the week, I won't be able to release it any time soon. Maybe next weekend if I'm lucky. I'll try to think of a few situations we could show easy DI (adding those ballin mentioned) and different types of DIs and stuff.

if it helps there are other fightan games where people just do 1-2 hour tutorial sessions for super-ultra beginner level, sometimes streamed

Yeah but I do normal-person calc not super-genius/asian calc

So I'm in the bottom 25% of my school
