Looking For Patient Smashers

Yo. I'm Chives, a fairly new SSB player. I've been working on all the Smash basics for quite some time while facing friends but I feel like I need to battle new people to broaden my horizons, or something like that. I tried EGX but it's difficult to get a good match there. Either the person is just worse than me or way better than me and just a complete *** about it. I get tired of all that.

So, if you are a patient SSB64 player who'd be willing to face a fairly low-level player and give me helpful criticism then let me know. I prefer to face people who own me a bit so I can see where I need to improve. At the moment that's mostly everywhere but I am starting to improve, just very slowly. :p

Use the player's compendium thread, add people on MSN or AIM, and message them when they are online asking to play p2p (there is a thread to set up p2p as well).

This is how I started playing good players after deciding EGX was crap, and now when people want to play they know me/will play me, sometimes I get asked for p2p as well. Just get into the community of all the people who p2p and you're good to go!

Trust me, while advice is helpful, people will usually give it to you without you even asking, but even so, just PLAYING players who are better than you, you will pick up on all sorts of stuff you never even noticed before regardless of how many videos of good players you've watched, and your play will improve.

Happy smashing!

For the record my MSN is daedatheus [ AT ] hotmail.com, feel free to add me and when I'm online ask me to p2p and we'll have some ggs!

Where are you from? I'm always looking for people to play with, but I'd rather play Europeans to keep the delay as low as possible.

Yes, he lives in Tacoma, Washington. Pretty lucky, everyone lives in West Coast or Canada, I'm stuck on South East Coast where nobody plays. :p

I was the one who showed him SSB64 in the first place.

Yo Chives, once you get done playing some peeps, play me again, and I'll point out some stuff. Remember that predictability thing I mentioned, how you tend to be unpredictable in the same way. Also try doing that to people, if you knock someone down, maybe try to wait and see what they do. After a while you will know how to punish [depends on character, Yoshi I dunno, but this helps a lot for Falcon ESPECIALLY if the opponent is a platform above].

Tacoma? My main smash buds and I usually play at my friend's place in Renton, perhaps you can join us someday.

In the mean time I'd be happy to play online, just hit me up on AIM.

Not really, that's just if you play random people on servers, nobody I know off is like that when playing p2p.
Probably 95% of smash players are elitists. Hell, I'll admit I was when I played.

The game (lol) is taken too seriously now-a-days. It's the main reason people are quitting. Lets face it, this community sucks. Only a few are worth sticking around for.

Yeah I agree that most smashers are elitists but they don't ***** about it, atleast not the people I've played with. (Europeans) Yeah sure I tend to get... annoyed when I'm losing but I keep it to myself, and when I win because the oponent is bad I don't rub it in, but try to help them improve instead.

BH, that's almost every game. ESPECIALLY shooters, SSB64's community, in comparison, is quite pleasant.

EGX is basically the ****storm of all of SSB64. Play P2P, and you get much much much better people.

Too many people put emphasis on being good though, forgetting almost no one plays. I'm probably 3rd best in the entire South East, but that counts for nothing. No one plays around here, cept a few.

Yea EGX gets pretty bad sometimes but I've learned to deal. If you try to be a good sport for the most part, or else shut yer trap, they won't say anything.

You'll only fuel the a-holes if you react to provocation.

On topic: I'm a good sport and I'm not exactly amazing at this game but I've improved quite a lot. Give me a shout if you wanna play.
