Looking for good secondary for a luigi mainer

I am looking for another good character to have as my secondary. Luigi is still my main but you have to have more than one character to turn to. Any good suggestions for a character who is strong where luigi is weak or someone who has a similar play style?

I am leaning towards diddy

ummm i like to use mario, yoshie, DK, and or Marth..... But you need to find who your comfortable with so its really up to you.

Yeah really. Snake is my secondary, he is a completely different play style and honestly I love how different it is. I almost think it makes my Luigi game even better. I also love to play captain falcon and Lucas.

Really? Does it cause you to look at moves differently; try new tactics? I was thinking of using a character who is similar to luigi so that i dont mess up my luigi strategery but it may help to use someone completly different.

Instead of using diddy or mario (strong aerials, decent projectile, fast smashes) I should use someone like DDD or some other completly different character.

Meta Knight is a nice choice for a secondary IOW

Actually if you wish to find a good second and has the same fighting styles of luigi... look for..

Lucario
King DDD
Kirby
Snake
IKE!!!!-(Sorry, quite bias here ^___^)

I have started to play king DDD alot. I really like his projectile and his grabs. His smashes are slow but man do they kill. I do think that playing a different character will help inprove your skills with your main. It forces you to learn some new play styles and maybe force you to look at your main a little different.

I used to go right to luigi's air game but he has a really good ground game as well. Playing King DDD forced me to remember that. Now I use throws more and try to keep luigi on the ground more. He air game is still dangerous as crap though!

Well I use Luigi and Meta-knight so I guess those are good but you never know it depends on what your comfortable with.

I use luigi and G&W. There's really not much reason behind it. Both have a great air game, but the similarities stop there.

Umm... hate to say this, but don't use olimar. His grab will give your luigi bad habits, and vice versa. :/ have you tried zelda or lucario? They've got a pretty good air game.

This is what I was afraid of. Thanks for the caution on Olimar. I really like lucario, I think there is alot of strategy when playing him well.

I still like King DDD. I think his grab game actually helps my luigi as well as his focus on ground attacks. It is forcing me to look at my luigi in different ways and perfect every area he is strong in while learning to deal with his weaknesses.

maybe Shiek is a good look for you too.

she is quite combo-rific and also his (her) air game is about par with his with good spacing.

The needles is good spam and quite funny to gimp with as luigi's fireball is quite underrated.

And also, vanish=shoryuken...

You should chose someone who can counters characters who are bad machups for Luigi. I think Metaknight can counters most of Luigi's counter( but not Dk and Snake btw).

i really want to secondary DK but both him and luigi get infinited by d3, so i might use d3.

Yeah, I love DK because he does sooo much better vs. Snake than most, and he overall has brutal range, weight, out of shield options and edgeguarding, but him and luigi share a common weakness to D3's infinite.

I'm thinking of relying on a secondary that is a bit out of the way, like Kirby(cause he's cool w/o the weakness to D3 and stuff), Zelda(Because she's extremely good against D3), or ZSS(unorthodox moveset that makes her a unique matchup). Although I think technically you can find the strictest best secondary pairing w/ luigi to be none other than Pikachu.

I main sonic, but I use ness, luigi, olimar, and diddy.

So I guess for you, I would recommend Diddy, Ness, and maybe Sonic. Diddy is just pure awesome, (great speed, good aireal, good ground, and amazing recovery) ness has great aireal (much like Luigi). The only reason why I say maybe Sonic is because I main him. The reason why I second Luigi is because he is a great counter to sonic, so i kinda have a character balance here. So what the heck, you might as well try him. His immense speed makes him an interesting character to use and his bair and fair are amazing. Not to mention he has some of the best recovery ever in the world of ssb.

Heh, my secondary is Toon Link, but I use a lot of the people suggested.
I started to play as Mario, but when I went back to Luigi I got confused and sometimes forgot I didn't have a cape. Or played as Mario and tried to dair...
