Do we really need to know every significant addition to brawl before we are even able to play it? Personally I hope they hold a lot back, I think it would be more gratifying to discover the bulk of what makes Brawl great by playing the game rather than stressing day in and day out, waiting for the new additions that I actually find pertinent in Brawl.

i'll agree with the 4 that's after mr resetti and before gardev.....whatever. anyway he has to be somewhat listening otherwise we wouldnt be getting certain characters etc.obviosly he's not listening enough because people will contine to complain about the way online is and yada yada.

The problem is, with these characters being turned away from, we're either getting more awesome characters to play as, or really really crappy characters, or just not as many new characters as we think...hopefully I'm wrong, but still...

What's ironic is that we wanted certain characters, but they end up as assist trophies. I can understand making generic enemies into assist trophies, but certain major characters deserve better.

You're forgetting the characters that ARENT assist trophies..

Such as DEDEDE and Sonic.

I was referring to characters such as Samurai Goroh. The problem with assist trophies is that it severely weakens the character roster.

I don't understand the hate towards Assist Trophies...they couldn't be in playable due to whatever restrictions, so Sakurai did the next best thing and made them Assist Trophies. Wouldn't you rather have them as ATs than regular trophies or...stickers?

You don't know the full roster, so you can't say that AT weaken the roster..

How do they weaken the roster? It's not like they're thinking "We'll decide which characters can be Assist Trophies first and then decide which characters will be playable.". ATs are characters that seem like they're big enough to be playable but there's not enough room in the game for them or they don't have enough to base a viable move-set on. If all of the AT characters were playable the roster would be too big and would have a lot of rubbish characters. The only reason ATs exist in the first place is to reduce the amount of disappointment of people who would like to see certain characters in the game who wouldn't be in otherwise.

Back on topic..

This seems to be one of the few major Nintendo games where fan reactions really are making a big difference in what's included - I think this is partially due to the nature of Smash in that it can have a huge variety of features without sacrificing quality, and partially (I could be wrong on this) because Sakurai seems to have control over most aspects of the game, and he personally listens to fan opinions often.

I think an exception to this is with the online mode - it was highly requested so it's in, but because Nintendo insists on making all of its online games ridiculously restrictive out of fear of being sued for things which are not its fault (like with the wrist straps and remote jackets) the mode probably won't be as great as it could be.

Assist Trophies were made so that anyone could get into the game, somehow. Even Grey Fox or Saki.

I think just about everyone that was on sukurai's poll will be in brawl.. whether playable, AT, or sticker...

either way we will most likely see the characters we wanted to see... although AT are random.. but atleast we will see them from time to time.

There's hundreds of potential fighters for Brawl, but in the end, they can only make as many as time and money permits. The Assist Trophies go above and beyond my expectations, they take characters that didn't make the playable cut, and find a way to implement them in the game anyways. I'm just glad to see the latest evolution of characters that were created over 10 years ago. I mean, this is even cooler then trophy dioramas. These ones are actually animated and do stuff.

Of course he is listening, he conducted a poll and even responded to some people's requests. Would Sakurai really just conducted character polls for giggles? I thought after Sonic's update we knew for sure he was listening ("character most desired")...

What people need to realize is that deconfirmations doesnt mean that he isnt listening right, it means that there were more popular or better choices that the team had to go through first, and that left no time to include the AT/Pokeball character as playable...
