I find Fire Emblem to be fantastic and it stands as my favorite franchise of all time.

But I like all the strategy, unit management, exp grinding (depending on game and characters) etc.

It's understandable if that's not your thing though.~

ehh i might try FE if i have time
Awakening is the most new-to-the-franchise/beginner friendly, a lot of the components from the older games were removed to make it appeal to a more general audience.

Rekka no Ken (FE7, or just Fire Emblem here in the west) was recently released on Wii U VC, so you could try that as well.

FE7 being the first international title in the series.

I would recommend the other international titles as well: Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, and Shadow Dragon (which is a remake of the first FE game).

Although Shadow Dragon has a bad reputation among the FE fanbase (I don't know why though, I didn't have problems with it).

But those are going to be hard to get your hands on nowadays.

If you do decide to try FE, I must stress enough not to let your units die and not lean to heavily on the higher-level or promoted-class crutches that the game can give you.

Otherwise your time later in the game will be hell because you will either be short units or really imbalanced in terms of levels (unless you do an Easy run, in which you can probably pull it off).

Of course the former issue can be remedied if you pick up Awakening, due to the fact that it has "Casual" mode, wherein your units can be defeated but they don't die and can be used in the next battle. "Classic" on the other hand is death, if they are defeated they are gone.

Hope you enjoy it if you ever take the time to try it out.

All the activity's great but I had to skip a page. Sorry if I missed anything. Now Sonic can really go on a winning steak in SSB4 :awesome: Yeah tier lists are only as good as the ignorance and egos of the masses.

I'm not good at the quick characters so I'm learning Sheik. I did this with a lot of characters in Brawl; learn how to play many characters and it will help all your characters.

I bought Shovel Knight and Shante Pirates' Curse from virtual console. They look fun but I've yet to play them.

I'm not going on raids but I'll watch from the shadows. My sense of humor and trolling is too rye and sophisticated or dark and psychological. People always think I'm being serious.

I've been playing Robin a whole lot, and playing him in smash is the reason I bought Awakening.
I had Awakening for a while but never had the motivation to get too far into it... Then I really liked Robin so I was like yo I need to and beat that game and it's soooo good. Damn. I've been missing out.

Oh, you missed some fun.

He's far more equipped now, that's for sure. Steak sauce is at the ready.

I agree completely. I did that in Brawl as well and have been trying to pass this advice on to others.

Fire Emblem: Awakening is a good turn-based, grid-based strategy RPG, but the uncontested king of that genre remains Tacics Ogre (Let Us Cling Together), and its unofficial sequel Final Fantasy Tactics.

I can't go to APEX, money/life :ohwell:

I wish there was a way to practice Master Core (spoilers btw)

I'm playing on 8.5 difficulty, get a game over once from throwing a boomerang when I meant to upB (this pro controller is killing me) on the Mii team which bumps it down to 8. Then I beat the hands and normal core forms with 2 lives left and now there's a maze. But the yellow parts kill you over 100% and these glowing things shoot lasers. I wish I'd known that. Then I beat 2 parts and it warps me back to FD. I don't know where to go so I go the wrong way, get pinballed by the yellow trying to get back and game over. Now it's 7.5 and I can't practice the maze form anymore.
/salt

A huge part of 1 player is know how and trial and error. The stage elements like to troll a lot.

I am getting much better control aside from slip ups here and there (usually directional errors). I'll upload a few vids for critiques soon.

I never played FE.

Shante is kind of fun. It's simple platforming/exploring.

I'm tempted to pick up FE, being that I've heard about it for ages. While that never pushed me to play Final Fantasy, I'll just say I'm tempted.
However the next game I'm really looking forward to is:

I really love how FE:A is basically a dating sim on the side.
I also love marrying my best friends daughter from the future who came back to the past and is the same age as you.
What do you think all the conversation about FE has been in the chat so far? No strategy, no unit management, just Shin speaking about how OP his sully is and then discussions about who should marry who for best results. At times it feels as if we're talking about cattle breeding.

Then yeah, FE is really good. I almost want to learn Lucina. Almost.
Do eeeeeet. Join the flat side.

Well I'm lingering somewhere between Yes and No.
I was there too, until I ended up buying into their hype and bought it. The game is good, but merciless. I've never played a TBS of any kind, so this is my first experience and the mechanics are quite complex, which isn't a bad thing necessarily. I do feel somewhat overwhelmed at times though still since there are so many things to take into account and one slip means a char dies, and that in turn means restarting the mission.

I could have played normal casual since o am a beginner but screw that noise. Hard and classic it is even if my chrom actually died in the prologue once.

Lucina seems to have to have it flat from every perspective it seems.

I'm not into dating sims.

Shante=Castlevania on estrogen.
When I spell check Castlevania it suggests sandcastle.
I've played the previous two shantae games and I loved both of those. Way forward makes good platforms. I haven't played pirates curse, I bought it but haven't touched it yet. Smashand other things got in the way.

Shovel knight I have played and that game is glorious. Its the best modern platformer that pretends to be an old-school platformer by far. If you didn't know any better you would think it's a virtual console game. Seriously, it's that good.

I was on the fence about that game. I'll take this as a hint that I should buy it.

Even hard classic is rather easy towards the end. If you've made somewhat smart decisions you'll blast through it. I've nearly finished now.

I was on the fence at first too. Then I watched a play through of the first level and I was sold. If you like platformers then shovel knight is a must play.

Haven't noticed that, but don't continue down this path. I don't want any of the waifu nuts coming over here.
I think the board is already infected tough since everyone and their mom already admits to playing it.

Seriously the past two pages look more like the Fire Emblem boards than the link boards.

It's ok to play it and maybe even talk about it here in social. Starting a debate over how kawaii this or another char is is, however, unacceptable.

As is mine. Asuka however is acceptable because she transcends every weeaboo notion and concept.

Also, after you add people I'd suggest just pming then to schedule the matches. That's how I do it usually.

I've been jumping between playing Guilty Gear Xrd, Blazblue CP, and various Rpg played with a friend so my smash time has been sorta limited in between.

I mostly just go into training mode and mash the buttons and control sticks looking for new ATs lol

How come you've never posted here before December then? It's good to not look at tier lists since the you won't be able to Play at your max. You'll just hop from perceived high to perceived high like most scrubs who mass picked Mac when the game launched and have hence changed to another perceived high. Yo can never be a real link main while maining him for the wrong reasons. And until you flame some scrub.
Not important, nor does anybody care but I mained Link because I loved the games, and when I found out he was **** tier, I was actually kind of happy, because when I beat people it would mean alot.
Also, I always miss the good stuff in this thread
Do we have a new mod btw?
I see you lurking @ Camalange Camalange took me a couple tries to spell that how do you fare stranger?

Well then... This is not the thread for me. I will just have to keep my thoughts about Lucina, Robin-chwan~, and the other ladies of FE:A to myself~ (oops, it slipped a little~)

That sounds like something someone with a waifu would say~

H-Have I been noticed?

I'm not a mod here, no. I have a slight history with the Link boards because of @Lawz. I saw he was logged in for once, which was shocking... So I stalked him to find his posts here and I probably visited at the perfect time. Now I'm just kinda chillin'. Sup?

Some background history. Back when I was about the same age as most users here or even younger I was also a fully blown weeaboo. However, I grew out of it to the point that I seriously can't stomach anime anymore with the exception of my favorite three: Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, and Rurouni Kenshin. Like seriously, I've tried watching some new anime due to the insistence of friends and only managed to force myself to finish one, SAO. I hated the rest, I simply can't stomach there style and clichés anynore.

Anyhow, back when I was on my full wapanesse period I had a crush on Asuka, so yes, she would've qualified as my waifu even though that term didn't exist back then. Now I just have fond memories, like, nostalgia.

So yeah, she's not a waifu, she's just a symbol that represents a period in my life.

Well then... This is not the thread for me. I will just have to keep my thoughts about Lucina, Robin-chwan~, and the other ladies of FE:A to myself~ (oops, it slipped a little~)

To be fair, if I'm worried someone might die, I can literally just have my Sully solo a chapter for me. Sully is a **** machine. A machine that manufactures and dispenses **** at precision quality and industrial volume.

Made me proud to see you starting into the series on Hard and Classic, none of that casual nonsense.

DF is right though, with the right decisions the game does soften up a little later on. I'm almost done and readying myself to try Lunatic mode.

I just wanted you guys to know that I just read the last 5 pages... And I ****ing love you
One of our own has returned. You might wanna get comfortable, "No"fro. Uncle Shin has missed our Black Viking.

Also, welcome back, Soldner.
