This is the first time link actually works for me. I'm an agressive player and they gave link tools to be that way finally. I wish snake was still in :( I loved snake to death.

Sheik feels the most natural to me in smash 4 (which she never did before) but I want link

My playstyle rests somewhere between Link and Ganon. They are the two closest expressions of what I want to do in the game but neither really fits perfectly. If I'm losing with one I can usually switch to the other and win. Was playing a DDD on FG that rekt my Link (multiple two-stocks) so I randomly decided to pull Ganon out again and almost got a perfect game.

@ link7 link7 I only had Kangaroo once but it was in jerky so I can't really attest to its flavor.

Of course Sheik feels "natural", nobody plays Sheik for a match and goes: "God, this character just doesn't work for me." Work for Link like we all do!

I lost to a Sheik in tournament 2-1 today, damn close all matches. The salt, it hurts.

Link's my best character.

I think it's cute. ...But I also think metroids are cute so make what you want of that :ohwell:

I watched cutscenes from the force unleashed:

It's amazing how much better this is regarding writing and acting than Star Wars episodes 1, 2 and 3. Whoever wrote and directed that game should have been in charge of the movies.

I suppose you're right. Greninja felt the best for me but when they changed him it didn't work for me anymore :( I am loving link though. Learning a projectile game is weird though

I beat a Yoshi today too -- he said it was because of the soft bomb throws. He really didn't know what to do with them. I wasn't sure about them yet, but they can be really good. I basically had stage control the whole set.

I've caught on to that too. It's the speed at which the bomb travels that actually messes people up. Another Link user tried that tactic on me and nearly beat me because of it. Worth looking into.
I struggle to be a good Link main yet as of the past 3 days I've discovered that my play style apparently compliments DK very well. A lot of players and even a few people on my friends list think my DK in incredibly good. I've landed quite a few Dairs.
DK's actually not as bad as people suggest he is. I've gotten my Deku handed to me quite a few times against DK mains. I don't really use other characters. I've tried out Robin and hated him. Ike's awesome but he still has all the issues I hated him for in Brawl. Mario's fun but using Link messes me up when it comes to his reach. The only one I really enjoy using right now is Charizard, and frankly, he's not as good as he should be. I'm praying Mewtwo will give me a true secondary.

Also @ The Merc The Merc , how does saying that I live in a country in which I don't live related to me saying that Australia's flora is messed up? Which is by the way. I mean, just look at the goddamn platypus.
Oh, um, sorry if you thought I said you where living in America. I was just referring to how you said Australia's wild life is messed up, that's all. Sorry if it seem that I assumed you lived in America. I actually don't know where you live and personally, I really don't care. Every place on our Earth is awesome :).
Also, what about the Platypus? :seuss:

Elessar currently resides within the boarders of Paraguay, landlocked in South America between Argentina on the south, Bolivia in the western side, and Brazil in the northeast. Currently listed as a developing nation set with a constitutional republic (similar in a way to USA's Democratic Republic) with a single president and a sizable congress of senators and deputees.
Currently led by President Horatio Cartes and boasting a $30.5 billion GDP, the country is one of few to retain it's original language in prevalence over the Spanish language brought by conquistadors in the 16th century, as Guaraní (hopefully spelled that right) is widely spoken in and around it's capitol city.

The country is not without it's own troubling scars of war as it had been hobbling through a succession of authoritarian dictatorships until the late 80's when an internal military coup seized the government in a measure to open free elections and it's eventual conversion to it's current form as of the early 90's.

Paraguayan social studies lesson aside, kangaroo is a fairly gamey meat (due to its indigenous diet and lifestyle) slightly leaner than buffalo but dryer than venison. My own experience with it comes from a rare occasion when my piano teacher who works for Bell Helicopter went on a trip down undah' to Sydney on business and procured several local delicacies for sampling.

Why does every link main here hate Izaw now? I thought everyone loved him?
We were actually just discussing this. We don't necessarily have a problem with Izaw, perceived egoism and flashiness aside, but more so the floods of praise and attention he gets from people who don't quite understand the flaws of pointless flash. The rabble we refer to as Izawmbies are a breed of droolies that seemingly kiss the ground he walks on since few in Europe had really heard of Legan, Kirin, Deva, Arkive, ALSM, etc. in the Brawl era, and think that he is the god of Link. (shoutouts to Germ and Deva being well known Melee Links)

IMO Izaw's fine, he's a good player and makes informative content with a nice flair for editing and media compostition. He does suffer a bit from what I construe as Hype Backlash, and many here are quick to remind him of the forum rules when he inexplicably makes a new thread simply to promote his latest video.
Doctor's prescription? Stick around more, Do work, and spread truth and excellence worldwide, but he's probably at the point where he figures we'd troll him relentlessly for trying, or doesn't care about us...

Just wanted to clear up any confusion you may have had in the aftermath of your earlier comment and Elessar saying he isn't from the USA. The synopsis was an attempt at filling you in on a few nuances of the land he resides in to better your understanding of what influences his cultural background/behavior, though speaking frankly, I don't know anyone else from Paraguay with such a sense of humor.

The Kangaroo part was in reference to the other discussion that was taking place.

Ah that's right. Thanks for reminding me Zane :)
No problem ;), if the mean ole' bridge trolls start gangin up on you, drop me a line and I promise I won't bring you to Uncle Shin...
On second thought guys, maybe I'm not the "Good cop" after all...>.>

It was hard to be taken seriously as a Link player in the past. Players like you know who see Izaw and think since they beat scrubs on wifi it means Link's metagame must be underdeveloped and that's why Link was the 4th worst in Brawl. When really flashy stuff shouldn't work on good players. Actual tourney going Link players knew he was bad but still had tools.

But then other people think hey Izaw must be a great Link because he self promotes so much then play him and this happens: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58YvPdGbK9M and people think 'Link can't do anything vs ________ character so Link loses to high tiers -4. In the brawl MU discussion I saw a ZSS panel member say Link loses to ZSS -4 and it's worse than his brawl Link vs Falco MU, which is completely stupid and uninformed. Link was so uncommon in Brawl that most people had never fought vs a good Link. Really Link in Brawl had a lot of -2 MUs and several -3s but could always do something.

And personally I don't like Izaw because he didn't respond when I tried to talk to him in the past, he spammed the Brawl Link forums with stupid threads like his 'games vs a "pro DDD"' (see lined post above) that generated huge flame wars, and he never helped with meta game discussions. He thinks he's too good for everyone.

That Youtube vid shows how Izaw really is though. He tries to overpower his foes with constant attacks, and sometimes that works on For Glory but that guy completely ignored the fact that he was at a positional disadvantage the whole match and still proceeded to try to overpower him with more attacks. So he got 2-stocked like it was no big deal.

Izaw only shows the matches he destroys on because his tactics work only on the trainees and the unsuspecting ones. Overpowering your enemy as much as possible with a barrage of attacks isn't how this game works.

He didn't respond to you because it wouldn't get him any views on his Youtube profile.

I just saw izaw fight a rosa and from watching him do one for glory I can tell he's too flashy. he's good but too flashy, and the art of link video shows stuff that's too basic the boomerang is what you learn as first time playing link (new to link) and not many good players can be hit by it. its just to telegraphed because link swings his arm back. bombs you can learn if you mess around abit (by bombs I mean second recovery).

Its just so basic its stuff you learn by playing abit if your trying to be competitive.

Edit: sorry @ Elessar Elessar I forget my punctuation I added periods and comas

The boomerang is great competitively too. It's telegraphed but it's about smart use and reading the opponent.

That's just it though...

I want them to read the boomerang. I want them to have to force out a shield, or even better, an air dodge.

Sadly this is both surprising but also to be expected based on the current condition of the world. People are horrible at following basic written instructions they have to read for themselves. Everyone suffers from the dunning-kruger effect as as such tend to assume that they already know the rules or, worse, that these aren't applicable to them.

I hope you've gone back and read the rules and stickies now that you seems to be wiser. After all, they are there for your own protection.

To be fair, I'm no forum newbie and know to lurk a good while before going nuts and after reviewing the rules I had it pretty well down. basically: don't be a **** and don't make new useless/repeat threads

-----------------------------------------------------------

I was looking for what some of the old link techs (like demonic zair and other ones such as that) to figure out exactly what they were and came across nintendodojo....

Jesus, you guys have been using the save avatars forever

oops forgot I posted already without a reply haha

While my smashboards avatar has never changed, my nintendodojo.com avatar is different. And not being a forum newbie doesn't immediately know you know forum etiquette, as we have painfully learned from past posters. It is nonetheless a good idea to at least skims the rules since every forum has its unique culture.

Also, what the hell is a demonic zair?
