Had a sudden urge to do this, its not too great right now but i will refine it within a few days. Hopefully this ends those ever present how do you bomb jump questions. This is my first time using windows movie maker so don't make fun of my n00bish skills lol. Watch this in full screen mode so you can read the text. By week's end i'll have vid guides of how to practice bomb jumping by yourself and hopefully i'll make a better instructional video.

Interesting that the video used to demonstrate depicts a situation where bomb jumping is unnecessary, but I suppose it doesn't detract from the tutorial. Nice job overall.

I probably would have shown more than just one bomb jump, because the DI of the up+b is different for every situation.

If you can find a video where the bomb jump is needed and do the same description, it will work a lot better...
Other than that it works...

Ya, as stated before before this was done hastily so i don't doubt its missing some things. As for it being unnecessary, i think it was called for. I wanted to mix it up with this falco, instead of grappling i suprised him, in this case it worked quite well. will have more in the future.

And if you wouldn't mind please rate my link, its on the first paget of the link threads. Thanks

You should never, never, never bomb jump for mindgames, because sooner or later you are going to suicide and wish you hadn't. Bomb jump should only be used when you're too far away to grapple.

Just wondering, after the bomb jump, are you still facing towards the stage? Like, could I reset->Air dodge-> Hookshot if I wanted to?

I would just like to mention, if you practice it make sure you are pulling the bomb out in the air, otherwise you won't have the right momentum. Also a good place to practice this is yoshi 64.

Ugh, sorry i haven't been able to get the rest of the vids up. Its college apps right now and those take priority. They are in the works though.

9 Volt-The bomb jump does reverse your facing. You can reverse your facing with a boomerang or a bomb. However, this probably won't work, the time required to do these attacks will cost you too much time. You will lose far too much vertical air. One bomb jump should do it in most cases, a 2nd one is really really tough i can't do it and its probably not worth the effort learning. Just get the basic jump down, its a great demoralizer against opponents. It lets you recover from unbelieveable distances and will throw your enemies off balance or stun them. Destroy them in their moment of pride!

this is nothing new nor practical--just something fun to know really--but you can still face the stage by DIing a little behind the bomb right before making contact with it, thus causing it to explode slightly in front of you, which, in turn, will leave you still facing the same way for a hook-shot attempt. however, in a situation when you actually need to bomb-jump--that is, when nothing else will reach--you won't be able to DI your up-b far enough behind the bomb to achieve this, due to your forward momentum.

but, for fun, it's easy to test out just to mess around, especially if you just want jump off the stage and use your double-jump to straighten out your DI first. oh, and if you have around 40% damage or more--i forgot the exact %--you'll need to wiggle free from the stun-time before you can air-dodge>hook-shot.

If you bomb jump towards the stage, the bomb shoots you towards the stage but you're facing the explosion, so you have to up+b.

If you want to dodge and hookshot after the bomb recovery you can shoot a bow to the right or left...then hookshot. I never tried it before but its definitely possible if your high enough.
lol. never attempt what you've suggested in the above quote; it's a big "no, no."

If you're high enough to do that, then you're probably high enough to just grab the ledge. >_> Or just up+b.

Not if your too far away from the ledge or your opponent is edgehogging

I've never attempted this b4, but I was just answering the other persons question....relax everyone lol

As a matter of fact im gonna try it soon, just too see whats the probability of it working

It's not.... if you're that high a few things can happen...

1. They'll intercept you in your lag from shooting the bow.
2.You can up-b or grab the ledge. If you're being ledge hogged get on the stage, or drop lower and up-b.... you'll get your ledge and they will get caught in the up-b...

Unless they have good enough timming to roll out of the way :D

I think we should all accept that the bomb jump is near worthless because everybody uses Link's UpB way too much, although it's amazing. SKRAAAAAAAAAAAA!

up B should be used in 2 situations ONLY: recovery, killing (dont even think about using it under 90%)

The spin is actually really useful against people who dash attack through your shield at mid-high %s. Peach, Samus and space animals do that quite a bit because their dash attacks don't lag bad enough to get punished by anything but an upB out of shield (or a usmash).

Bomb jumping should be your last option of recovering.
Try to aviod using bomb jump as much as possible.
Maybe proper DI will save Link's stocks instead of trying to bomb jump.
Grapple also works.... no ****
But yeah in some situation bomb jump is needed...
good video though.

One of these videos lied to me. It said you're supposed to hit the back of Link's head, when you're ACTUALLY aiming for where the attack meets his head on the backside.

LIARS.

Also, I'd say that the bomb jump is very useful on SOME stages, like ones where you can't grapple. Don't forget about the classic DK stage. Getting into that barrel can save you (I actually did it just two hours ago, and made somebody extremely pissed off <.<)

Ugh i hate congo jungle such a bad stage. The floor always messes me up and the grapple surface isn't all that generous either. But all the same nice shot if you got into the barrel lol. I wouldn't have thought of that.

Link's does it because he hits the bomb into himself. Notice that your bomb won't explode if you just jump into it. The spin attack hits are weak enough that they just angle the bomb into the air. That kind of takes the "Buffer" off of it, and explodes when Link hits it.

AKA, that's why a bomb jump works.

I'd guess if Young Link's doesn't work (which I'm unsure about), he either

A.Can't hit it back at himself

OR

B.His spin attack destroys the bomb in midair

If neither of these are true, then Young Link CAN in fact bomb jump.
