Picture this, if you will:

At the very center of every stage, there is a circle. If you stand in the circle and taunt or maybe crouch, it activates a "channeling" effect that would start to cause the enemy to take damage over time, starting with very small amounts and accumulating exponentially. If you move out of the circle, attack, jump or shield, the channeling stops.

Let's say it takes 1 full second to activate, deals 1% the first second it's activated, then 3%, then 5%, and finally 10% at 5 seconds, totally the damage dealt to the enemy at 19%. It's small, and 5 uninterrupted seconds is an unlikely scenario, but it is nevertheless an option. Think of it like of like the damage you take while in the blast zone.

How would this affect the meta?

What would happen to the character tiers, if anything? How would it affect the necessity to approach, camping in general, and the struggle for stage control? Time-outs?
