I picked this up for the PS3 the day it came out, at first only getting it for the export key. Turned out I couldn't use it for a week, so I ended up playing it... and wow, I was very suprised. The game itself is pretty impressive, with a songlist that I personally think rivals Rock Band / 2 for sure. The lego people themselves are prety diverse, and the venues were good as well. Overall, a pretty solid game for what I thought was at first a cheap cash in.
Anyone else like this game? The only issue I have is the "family friendly" songs, but super easy makes it more of a party game to a degree.

Yea I've never had the chance to play any of the lego games (Batman, Indy Jones, Star Wars) but I'm told they are very very fun.
Hardest song? Either Fire by Jimmy Hendrix or The Final Countdown by Europe.
Pretty fun game regardless guys, definately a rent at least.

I would pick this up for the export key, but since there are only about 20 songs in the game I really want, it's not worth the $60 (50 + 10 for export). Maybe I'll wait for the price to drop.

It lets you play the Lego RB songs in RB/RB2. It's similar to the export key that allowed you to transfer songs from RB1 to play in RB2.

I actually prefer Lego Rock Band over the originals and 2, but because it has the family friendly deter, even when it says the downloaded songs aren't rated... it's very annoying.

its bull****, i want guitar hero dragonforce to come out, everything else is too easy...
Totally agreed. If fire and final countdown are the hardest songs in the game, its a joke. More songs like constant motion and through the fire and flames would make for a great difficult game.

Good, I'm just in time to see this thread devolve into a Guitar Hero v. Rock Band war or a hardcore players v. party players war.

I guess I still don't really understand why this game exists. I get the other LEGO games, but a LEGO version of Rock Band seems superfluous. Rock Band was already pretty family friendly and I don't see the appeal of playing with LEGO characters in this way. Is there something drastically different about this game that I've just missed (other than an apparently much more shallow difficulty curve)?

Seems as though it's Harmonix's answer to Neversoft's "Band Hero", with the lego facelift. Not much more than that.

While they compete, it surely seems as though they have some hidden ties behind curtains.

A lot of people play because they like the songs, not for difficulty's sake.
I was just trying to say, while I like a good setlist, I like difficult songs even more. That's just my opinion of course. I recognize that many people play it for the song and not the difficulty. I might get this game. I'm sort of on the fence at this point.

Oh boy.

That's a big plus for me, and playing Let's Dance? Awesome (and the inclusion of Iggy Pop is also great). I may go with that Old Navy deal, so thanks CK!

The thing that truly bugs me, is that no one knows if David Bowie, Iggy Pop (haha... Venture Bros), Queen, and Blur are unlockable to play in any song.

Fair enough.

But there are some pretty difficult DLC songs, right? Have you checked out the Yngwie J. Malmsteen pack? I don't have it myself but I imagine any of his songs are challenging on guitar (if hard guitar songs are what you're looking for).

I've played through the game, but even as a Rock Band fanboy, this has one of the weakest setlists of any band game to date. For every classic, like Fire or Ghostbusters, there's a really annyoing modern track, like Swing, Swing or Real Wild Child.

I do have to give HMX credit on their decisions concerning the celebrities. They made no awful choices, and they are only playable on their own songs. It's too bad that David Bowie doesn't appear on Under Pressure, though.

I vowed never to own or play any of these gimmick type games, going back to DDR, then came guitar hero and rock band... I used to make fun of the kids playing it at the wal-mart display, all jumpin' around, or banging out beats (why is it always the same boring *** beat?)

But this... my wife's been wanting it, so I am going to cave and try it out. I'm gonna gay myself out to rock band. Such is married life, I suppose, but eh, maybe I'll actually enjoy it! Anything to get me off brawl, that's her secret ploy.
