As you may or may not know, Lego is win.
They're making an mmorpg that's going to come out in early 2009, here's a trailer (not actual game footage):

It looks like it's geared for young children, but they claim there's stuff for everyone/lego enthusiasts. All I know is that I'm definitely going to play this (provided they don't screw it up). Seems like a cool alternative to leveling up and playing dungeons all day.

They first announced this like two years ago and then never said anything about it. I thought the plans for it just kinda fell through. Glad to hear it hasn't though.

If they make it pay to play though...

Saw this 2 months ago in Lego Magazine. I can't find the Issue though...plus that Bionicle comic in it. I'm gonna play it as long as they don't screw it up.

Yeah they've been keeping it under wraps I think. There's some press releases and some videos of interviews on Youtube and their site. I hope they actually do finish it.
And it will be subscription based... though I can't imagine it being 15 bucks a month like today's major mmorpgs.

Ugh...

Well, there goes my money. Pay to play games are the stupidest things in the history of gaming. Seriously. "Hey guys, you just bought this awesome new game! Betcha can't wait to play it! Oh, and it costs fifteen dollars a month! Sorry!"

One of the few things that should be universally agreed on about MapleStory is that they did one thing right. It's free to pay, just the extra stuff costs money.

Well managing servers and bandwidth isn't cheap.
What I don't like is those games you have to buy and pay monthly. Warhammer online is going to cost 50 bucks and you still gotta pay monthly. It should be at least cheaper to buy. That's what was good about WoW, you could download the game for free but you need to pay to use their servers.

But like I said earlier, I doubt Lego Universe is going to be that expensive compared to some of the major MMOs today (both the monthly and initial fee).

Anyway, their site is http://universe.lego.com/en-us/Default.aspx

But the thing about subscription games is that they're always adding new content.
