Ledgedash?

ive been getting it down but I always seem to shield instead of wavelanding on the platform. Like i get on the platform but When i press L and move the joy stick 180, I just shield. Any suggestions?

How to ledgedash:
Drop, jump immediately, pause briefly while rolling the stick from down to forward (the pause is to wait until your dj has gained max height), and hit R/L.

How to reverse ledgedash:
Drop, jump immediately, start holding forward immediately, brief pause for dj height, snap back to backwards and hit R/L.
