Landing Safely

So I've been having trouble landing safely as C.Falcon. I think this is because his nair isn't really a defensive tool and he lacks one besides bair, but that is easily punished on shield. I guess strafing one way and then shifting another way on the way down isn't too bad, but it gets old quickly... Anybody have any tips?

An interesting mix up is to prompt a shield by making it look like you're going for an aerial, but then using Falcon Dive instead. Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but again, just an interesting mix up. You should always be changing what you're doing to avoid making yourself predictable, such as always going for bair.

bair is in fact safe on shield, you're probably not spacing right. Falcon has an insanely fast fast fall speed so if you see an opening in the opponents juggles you can abuse their mistakes and simply fast fall through the gap back to the ground. Also falcon has better horizontal speed than most of the cast so cross up aerials are good mixup options (eg. cross up dairs, bairs, nairs)

Here are some things that you can try :
-go for the ledge : it's sometimes much easier to come back from the ledge than to land directly on the ground, especially on stages without platforms
-mix up on platforms : go for platforms and choose between landing on them, passing through them and landing with a Dair
-save your second jump : accept to get hit a few times and save your second jump for when it'll let you escape
-fast fall and aim with the second hit of Nair : this one isn't safe but the number of people that drop their shield after seeing you whiff the first hit is ridiculous
-cross up Bair : hit their shield with the anterior hitbox of the Bair (Falcon's nipples), if done right you'll land behind them, back to back and they'll whiff their shieldgrab. Always autocancel your Bair when you can.

Well then practice. Try different heights and falling speeds, hold R after the Bair and if your shield comes up immediately after landing then you're doing it right. If you see a landing animatio nyou're doing it wrong.
