Lame Updates

We've been goosed by one too many dissapointing updates, like Tournament mode, Stickers, Trophies, Names, and even Shielding and Dodging. It's really dissapointing waking up/staying up for the update and you get something that was already assumed to be in game, but they wasted the whole update remind you that it will be back. (as if we didn't already know that)

What i propose here is that we create a list of the bad updates that will eventually come up, so we can prepare ourselves for those crappy update days.

What killed us:

Tournament mode
Stickers (new but ultra-lame)
Trophies
Names
Shielding and Dodging

What's left:

Air dodging
X number of ways to get back on the level
Charging Smash attacks
Running and walking
Camera mode
Coin mode
Falling through platforms (i hope we don't see this one)

I will be updating the list at least once a day if any new ones are brought up, that i'm sure i missed.

dude you should be lucky were getting updates at all... you dont want him to spoil everything like 2 months before the game is even out... air dodging is under the update we got 3 days ago Stickers are awsome.. cause u can actually do somthing fun with em same with Trophies.

Names is really important because if you dont have a name you cant use a controller you need a name to pick what controller your going to use. X number of ways to get back on the level they already did that with tether recovery wich is awsome.

Like i siad be lucky we even get to see these

This really is a pointless thread why do we need you to tell us which updates where bad plus I liked the trophies update as well as many others you said were bad I really got to agree with Kentalicious

Some people are so ungrateful.......understand this...NO ONE HAS TO GIVE YOU ANY UPDATES AT ALL....You are sounding a lot like a spoiled brat that doesn't get his way. Take what you get and don't complain already.

P.S: So many people have tried the 'Updates Sux' type threads and none really go that far....so just stop.

I may like some updates less than others, but all in all, I'm grateful that we get them.

Hmmm... it's funny that you think "Names" was a lame update.
Actually, a lot of the updates which you consider lame give us a lot more information than what it originally intended.

The "You Must Recover!" update was pretty obvious, right?
Well I bet no one knew that Mario's recovery has increased before this update.

It's just crap like that which makes me like the "lame" updates.
In the "Shielding and Dodging" update, we get knowledge of an additional roll / sidestep-- which put an end to the wavedashing worshipers who swore such was wavedashing.

Man, do you realise they have to have an update every weekday, sometimes even 2 or 3 until who knows when? Even in Brawl updates are limited in quantity and they will eventually run out in material if they don't do it this way. They release stuff piece by piece to keep us entertained every weekday. Like Kentalicious said, be glad you get updates every weekday at all.

Also, they have to account for people that have never played a smash game at all. You assume everyone knows as much as you, but the team has to account for a new audience.

In short, if you're tired of waiting up til 3 AM to find a "How to Recover" update, just go to sleep.

The fact that we are getting updates is already something, Sakurai didn't have to give us anything AT ALL. Plus, we are getting pretty pictures with the updates, for instance you can see that the game has shadows (under the chracters) again.

Yeah some of the updates aren't that great but most of the time the lame ones are coupled with a good one so you don't get too depressed. Even when they aren't you really shouldn't complain because (as others before me pointed out) Sakurai doesn't have to give us anything.

We should count ourselves lucky Sakurai isn't giving us updates for returning items! In my opinion, items and music should be put alongside other updates. I would, for instance, bundle stages with the music for that stage. Any other update is fine.
