Ok im a medium-advanced smash player and i've been working on fox(my best) i can drill-shine and wavedash and dashdance adn short hop and shl etc etc... and ive been working on my L-cancel for the Nair and Bair so i can perfect the shffl. My question is is it even practical to learn the L-cancel for those two moves? I have it down about 1/2 the time but still i can barely tell if im evn doing it...i mean i know its possible but does it benefit ur game enough for it to be worth using? fox's nair and bair have so little lag to begin its hard to tell
adny comments are welcome and ty in advance!

Let's say you are going to do a nair -> shine.

If you SHFFL it perfectly, you can shine before you get grabbed.

If you miss the l-cancel/fast fall whatever, they can grab you.

yes learning to shffl anything is necessary, also...
Idk about you guys, but for me I've been using the control stick for shine shffl nairs, but do watevs
feels comfortable and practice it and know the timing of it normally and on shields/whatever.

What you need to realize is that the timing for the L-Cancel varies with this move more than any other, mainly because the time of the fast fall varies with this aerial more than any other unlike it. First there's being able to time it all while just doing it without hitting someone, ie without hit lag. Then there's getting used to how much hit stun every part of the Nair provides when making contact with a shield or character. As the move stays out longer it decays in terms of damage and knock back thus instituting a dependency on this factor for when to time your fast fall with the theoretical most-efficient result. The weaker the attack is the less hit stun is provided enabling you to fast fall accordingly; sooner after impact if weak and later after impact if just coming out, or way later if you do it on your way up and still must reach the peak of your jump after the hit lag diminishes. Practice makes perfect, no easier way.
That's basically it

I think it's totally necessary especially when drillshining because against other advanced players you'll notice the difference in timing when players can suddenly get away. I too have gotten to the same level of skill as you, minus drillshining, and I have seen noticed the difference over the progression of my skill increase. My roommate that I typically play against used to have no problem stopping me from pinning him to the wall when I constantly SHFFL'd Dair then shine on levels like pokemon stadium but now he only gets away when I mess up the SHFFL.
