.ktl files (kentilan)

i am using kentilan's ktl viewer for nights journey of dreams. i believe he created the ktl file so that the entire stage model has all of the stage data together, textures and all. this is at least for nights stages or models since the textures aren't packed together in one file like brawl. i was wondering if there's a way to convert ktl files into brres files or a way that i could use the stage for brawl? it is very difficult to try to find the complete stage model in the iso, if there is one.

Well it will only work if there are .MDL0 files in there. That is brawl's model format, any other format and u cant use it.

brawlbox could read brmdl files and brtex-(rename to brres) files, which are some of the formats that nights use. here's a quote from kentilan from nightsintodreams.com/forum to give a better explanation of the .ktl files."Well, merging BRMDL files was much harder than I expected, so instead I converted the models into a simpler, custom format (that I called .ktl), and then I could merge the models." do you think you can extract the models and anything else that can be useful from the .ktl files?

BrawlBox can read brmdl files?!?!?? OMG. You sir just found importing models from Super Mairo Galaxy! ANd you probably could, just rename it ot brres if what u said is true and its a type of brres. and then hex the model or use Fortwaffles auto hexxer.

galaxy uses brmdl files? oh dear god this means greatness!! yeah brawlbox does, but you get an error message if you try to preview the model. i guess that's when the auto-hexing tool comes in. thanks i'll look into that. you do mean auto-hex the .ktl file so it works with brawlbox/brawl?

There's a difference between BMD and BRMDL/MDL0. Galaxy uses BMD, Brawl and a bunch of other Wii games uses BRMDL/MDL0. BMDs are not the MDL0 format renamed -- they're completely different.

(EDIT: Oh, and *.KTL files are compressed BRRES files, so you're gonna have to get the original files from the game if you want those...)

You know brtex and brmdl are just renamed brres', right?

Use a hex editor. It's not hard. If it's a brres, the first thing the file should look like this:

Onechanbara is the only game that that does anything different; it adds 32bytes(2 rows) of useless data to the head of the brres. Just delete those and it works.

It seems like all the main Wii game formats are just renamed BRRES files... Galaxy uses brmdl right? Idk what but i would really like the levels from there as stages.

all i could find are a bunch of separate texture files (brtex). i can't seem to find the brmdl files of the stages in the iso, but somehow the .ktl file shows the entire stage as if the file included the actual stage model(s). any suggestions? oh and sorry if this is bothersome.
