As we all know, kirby has files for each of his hats. Unfortunately, they cannot be opened in psa, psamod, osa2, or tabuu. However, I recently found that each of the neutral Bs for the hats are already in kirby's file! I need your help finding what character each subaction correlates to. I have already found quite a few. Unfortunately, they don't seem to follow a pattern. :(

This is a nightmare to dig through and easily the most obtuse thing any character has in PSA. We did some work on these for Balanced Brawl, but I at least didn't really document any of this. The "best" part is that the hitboxes for Kirby hat articles are in the actual .pac files for the hats (such as FitKirbyMario.pac) and the fixed knockback ones (particularly Squirtle's power water gun hitboxes) don't seem to be findable.

What you found in terms of stage hitboxes was really, really cool and was actually the springboard for everything Thinkaman and I found which maybe will be a springboard for PW so I'll do you a favor and dig up a few characters' worth of this right now.

Captain Falcon
206 - Falcon Punch
207 - reverse Falcon Punch
208 - aerial Falcon Punch
209 - reverse aerial Falcon Punch

The amount of damage with fire element was kinda a give-away. Did you overlook this one at the start?

I strongly suspect 20C and 20D (SpecialNStart and SpecialAirNStart) belong to Meta Knight. Just load up FitMetaKnight.pac and look at the sub-actions on his neutral special. The article they summon is probably something to let Kirby create the same effects Meta Knight does; I haven't looked into the animating too carefully.

26A and 26B obviously belong to Snake, and the only logic in them at all is creating sound effect 1B28 which is unique to them. If I had to guess, this is invoked when shield dropping grenades? I really don't know; you'd have to listen to the sound effect to get a good hint.

[276 through 285 looks like Pk Flash and Pk Freeze to me one after the other. I have no idea which is which. I'll let you sort that out.]

Lucas

276 - Pk Freeze start-up
277 - Pk Freeze charging
278 - Pk Freeze release
279 - Pk Freeze recovery
27A - aerial Pk Freeze start-up
27B - aerial Pk Freeze charging
27C - aerial Pk Freeze release
27D - aerial Pk Freeze recovery

Ness

27E - Pk Flash start-up
27F - Pk Flash charging
280 - Pk Flash release
281 - Pk Flash recovery
282 - aerial Pk Flash start-up
283 - aerial Pk Flash charging
284 - aerial Pk Flash release
285 - aerial Pk Flash recovery

I'm mostly sure I have these two right by looking at the SFX structure (the only significant difference). The first one is exactly identical to Lucas's whereas the second is pretty similar (but not quite identical) to Ness's.

Donkey Kong

286 - Giant Punch start up
287 - Giant Punch winding
288 - Giant Punch cancel
289 - Giant Punch partially charged attack
28A - aerial Giant Punch fully charged attack
28B - aerial Giant Punch start up
28C - aerial Giant Punch winding
28D - aerial Giant Punch cancel
28E - aerial Giant Punch partially charged attack
28F - aerial Giant Punch fully charged attack

Luigi

290 - Grounded Fireball
291 - Aerial Fireball

Ike

292 - Eruption start-up
293 - Eruption charging
294 - Eruption partial charge attack
295 - Eruption fully charged attack
296 - aerial Eruption start-up
297 - aerial Eruption charging
298 - aerial Eruption partial charge attack
299 - aerial Eruption fully charged attack

The fire element and super armor gives away that this is Eruption and not Shield Breaker, but I notice a lack of a self-damage function. This may or may not mimic actual in-game behavior.

Marth

29A - Shield Breaker start-up
29B - Shield Breaker charging
29C - Shield Breaker partial charge attack
29D - Shield Breaker fully charged attack
29E - aerial Shield Breaker start-up
29F - aerial Shield Breaker charging
2A0 - aerial Shield Breaker partial charge attack
2A1 - aerial Shield Breaker fully charged attack

This one is pretty evident, especially since Ike's is already found.

2A2 - 2B4 are really not very obvious. Rollout? Whatever it is has different sub-actions for which way you are facing and has very little logic within FitKirby.pac. Rollout would seem to fit the bill better than anything else I can come up with, but I'm not completely sure. Note that given how much we know about other characters, me not being completely sure means like 90% it is in fact Jigglypuff's power.

Diddy Kong

2B5 - Peanut Popgun start
2B6 - aerial Peanut Popgun start
2B7 - Peanut Popgun charge
2B8 - aerial Peanut Popgun charge
2B9 - Peanut Popgun shot
2BA - aerial Peanut Popgun shot
2BB - Peanut Popgun charging (late)
2BC - aerial Peanut Popgun charging (late)
2BD - Peanut Popgun explode
2BE - aerial Peanut Popgun explode

This is really the only thing that makes any sense with the sub-action names...

R.O.B.

2BF - Robo Laser
2C0 - aerial Robo Laser

A fire hitbox that does 7% can only be R.O.B..

2C1 through 2DD is super obviously King Dedede. If you think I'm documenting each one of these, you are crazy. I already think you are crazy for documenting Wario, but it looks like you used a gecko while I'm just looking at the .pac and using what I know about the game.

[2DE and 2DF I honestly have no clue. They could be the tail end of DDD or could be some oddball character (an article is summoned on 2DE which makes me think it isn't DDD).]

Olimar

2DE - Pikmin Pluck
2DF - aerial Pikmin Pluck (where he does that flailing animation)

Ganondorf

2E0 - Warlock Punch
2E1 - reverse Warlock Punch
2E2 - aerial Warlock Punch
2E3 - reverse aerial Warlock Punch

This is super obvious.

Beyond that gets hard again, and this is a pretty big chunk so I think I'm done.

Edit:

Continuing...

2E4-2E9 is a special that has a loop and makes items invisible. It relies on articles to hit and has no other hitboxes. I'll come back to it after I eliminate a few more characters.

2EA-2EF is exactly like 2E4-2E9 which strongly makes me suspect I'm looking at Link and Toon Link here. Figuring out which is which would be unreasonable.

Lucario

2F0 - Aura Sphere start-up
2F1 - aerial Aura Sphere start-up
2F2 - Aura Sphere charging
2F3 - aerial Aura Sphere charging
2F4 - Aura Sphere max charge
2F5 - aerial Aura Sphere max charge
2F6 - Aura Sphere release
2F7 - aerial Aura Sphere max charge

The blue graphic effect combined with the exact same structure gives away this is Lucario. Samus's Charge Shot uses a different structure of sub-actions despite being similar so I was able to rule that out.

2F8 - 2FD are definitely Samus. The way this special works is pretty complex, and I don't want to untangle it right now.

Bowser

2FE - Fire Breath start-up
2FF - Fire Breath stream
300 - Fire Breath ending
301 - aerial Fire Breath start-up
302 - aerial Fire Breath stream
303 - aerial Fire Breath ending

The red flash overlay and parallel structure with the limited number of remaining characters make Bowser the only possibility here.

304 - 313 is obviously Pit. I'll put off decrypting this in the interest of finishing the remaining sub-action character associations.

Mr. Game & Watch

314 - Chef
315 - aerial Chef

His neutral special is actually very simple and also the only remaining neutral special to generate a non-article hitbox (the frying pan itself).

316 - 31C simply must be Zero Suit Samus. It's the only thing that makes sense. That means the unknown that was *probably* Rollout was in fact Jigglypuff's and that the one I had no idea about must be Olimar's.

I'll be editing this some more to clean it up, but this is now complete in terms of character mapping.

Actually, Squirtle's non-uncharged Water Gun shots, Ivysaur's Bullet Seed shots, and Charizard's Fire Breath are all part of Kirby's file as articles 6, 7, and 8. ZSS's Paralyzer shot is in there too as article 9. Since Sheik's needles are in FitKirbySheik where they belong, I'm guessing they had problems with Kirby copying the projectiles of characters that share slots with other characters that have projectiles.

The Kirby Pikmin hitboxes are probably lost somewhere in FitKirby as well, since they sure aren't in FitKirbyPikmin.
