You never fought me did you... and Mad-Fighter is also a kb player but he doesn't fight Americans. I do, and I can agree that the limitations of kb aren't that big. If you look at me fighting you'll notice almost no different with controller users. Things that are not possible with kb:
-uairs while falling through a platform (decent issue)
-doing tilts out of nothing (very small issue, I'm rarely doing nothing and when I am I was already holding up to wait for an approach)
-more than 8 directions for an upB (very big issue with fox, decent issue with pika, no issue with other chars)
-walking slowly (very small issue)

Am I missing something here?
I have faught Mad, a loooong time ago :p

Marth was a good Keys player too

Keyboard isn't as limited with tilts as you think. You just have to think and prepare ahead to hold the direction during a time where your character is already doing something. There are very few actions I have trouble doing on keyboard.
Exactly, you have to buffer up and forward tilts by holding the direction during the frames of another attack.

This is a huge problem, it means that 9/10 times your utilt will happen after an aerial. Having any set attacking patterns in ssb64 is BAD.

You also can't walk forwards at variable rates for the old "Oh im walkin away now.... FSMASH LOLOL" strategy, or more importantly, walking and doing utilts with link, pikachu, etc.

Finally, fastfall uairs are the sex, after training on console a lot this year, I wont be playing kaillera till I can pull of what I pull of on console.

Not saying keyboard/dpad are impossible, or even that they're bad. Just saying that having a tilt-sensitive stick will give you the edge since you can do most of what you can do on console.

you can do a really fast shorthop and then utilt, within two seconds or less.

And forget aobut this noobish "walk away + fsmash" strategy

First one is an issue for Mario, last one is a BIG issue for Link.

It's possible to do a SH fastfalled uair by waiting a bit for the top than fastfall [I do that on Controller, without using tilt], but random fastfalled uairs are bleh.

You have to pretty much always be holding up to be able to start a combo against a good opponent with Mario. Ness is fine on keys though. Only slight problem is utilt, but it's not as big a deal to buffer it, and he's easier overall anyways on keys.

You guys are on crack. Nintendude's DI is not even that insane as you guys make it out to be. Dair's on the other hand used to be so wild that, i'll mention this again for the 5th time on my secret alt Yoshizilla, I ground pounded him in Hyrule next to the house at death percentage against his Fox and he went halfway across the screen to underneath the house to not die a sky death.

I also don't really know why you are trying to cover up the fact that you used to hack when you say stuff like "i changed my ways now, instead of Virus, I'm Near." Yeah you don't hack your DI anymore but you definitely used to.

As far as Keyboard playing goes, it really is good enough to play smash online with most of the cast. Me, Nintendude, and Nephiros were the 3 best pure KB players and we did pretty good, I think Nintendude is still the only KB player hahah. Priming tilts aren't really that hard and you learn to be more minimalistic rather than spam your moves. The things I don't like about it are is that you can't do stuff like fastfall Up-air or dropping through a platform while up airing (same thing).
Well at least you acknowledge that it's not that anymore. that's good enough for me
but since when is messing with the deadzone hacking :psycho:

I KNEW you were yoshizilla

I beat Neph all the time when I was on kb. >_> And same with you when you used to go on EGX like a year ago.

But I no longer use kb, so whatever.

Nintendude: To do the teleport on kb, start dashing and while you're dashing press the opposite direction, then press up really fast afterwards (if you wait too long it won't work). You don't have to press down. I'm pretty sure it works if you use the C button to jump too.

I'm pretty sure I beat you more than you beat me cause I remember we usually Falcon Ditto then u switch to Pika. Playing in EGX was like 7 frames of delay for me so that's dum. Anyway I was just saying that us were the best KB players of that time. If you want we can just p2p or something i'm sure both of us got better

LOL I remember once I joined your game for Falcon Dittos and you kicked me out after I won one match by like 3 stocks. But our Falcons were equal overall (at the time).

We should have a keyboard only tournament for title of best keyboard player.

It actually is possible to do this on keyboard, it's just tricky timing. Simultaneously press down + up while standing on a platform and a fraction of a second later let go of down and press your A button. You have to really get the movement fluid for it to be reliable, though.

as long as people don't take forever, I would host.

Also, falcon dittos mean nothing.

Ive beaten Boom's and Fire's falcon in dittos but lose to random people. Least skill besides MAYBE Jigglypuff dittos.

Yes I do actually, I've only played maybe 20-30 online matches it's fun I got a lot of improvement ahead of me but there wasn't enough challenge amongst the people I play against on console...

Want to play sometime? My computer was overheating so I'm getting that fixed at the moment but I should have it back today...

I started out with samus as my main back in the day ... well when I was a kid i actually played fox but I'm pretty convinced I sucked then haha.. but when I came back I started as samus... then moved to pika (lol) ... now I try to play everybody but mostly fox and jiggs haha

Now that I've told you my life story, whats up, who do you main? We should plays I miss my smash64

lol your east cost right? you should get 5 to 7 frames with europeans
O RLY? I've never tried playing actually lol. But West Coast players would get like 12 frames of lag so it might be unfair for them...

If i remember well, i got 7 frames with Surri, Boom, Fireblaster and Superstar, 8 frames with Tigerbombz and 9 frames with JaimeHR, but I'm from Spain. The north european smashers get less delay with USA than me.

**** you. My point was that walking at variable rates is important for spacing in a lot of combos. Not that walking away and smashing the other way was a good strategy.

I just like doing that to people sometimes. :p

LOL I know what did you mean but the walk away+fsmash strategy itself stopped being useful for me a long ago, it doesnt work against good players

Not much works on good players except exploiting rare mistakes that sepperate great smash players from perfect machines, because of course the human error factor.

Walkin away and fsmashing sucessfuly kicks ***. It's better with marth in melee though, but I wont use the m word again in this section.
