I have heard something that he was talking about different/old pressure beeing good because people don't expect it. So yeah with human beeings I guess some old stuff can be good sometimes. As Mango said once, he believes that the metagame not only E-volves, but it also RE-volves. He believes that old meta can sometimes reach a special point where it can beat new meta. Ken was an example of this. If Ken's technical skill was on point, he would have placed quite highly, I believe.
Okay that sounds more like Mango/a top player saying something like thatMango wasn't really talking about general metagames though, he was talking about specific timings on certain technical stuff, dairing early vs. dairing late, stuff like that.
In that case, switching up the timing old vs. new can throw off people. And there are some old-school stuff that could potentially trick a lot of people today.
Apart from that, I agree with Ethereal.
Armada I was watching SC2 recently from Sweden and there were Swedish commercials being played. The language looked similar to German, if someone was to talk to you in German would you be able to understand it a bit? Just curious, also off topic I know.Okay that sounds more like Mango/a top player saying something like that
Ethereal is correct for sure.
Ken wasn't an example of anything like this. He barely made it out of pools (getting seeded first afaik), and continued to get pooped on in bracket. If anything, his set with Toph was representative of his entire tournament. Game 1 he wins because Toph is likely nervous as **** facing Ken. Game 2 he gets over it when he realizes Ken is bad, but he still struggles because Ken is using 5-year-old metagame tactics like fsmashing shields and using side-B combos. Game 3 he gets used to the weird play style and whoops him.As Mango said once, he believes that the metagame not only E-volves, but it also RE-volves. He believes that old meta can sometimes reach a special point where it can beat new meta. Ken was an example of this. If Ken's technical skill was on point, he would have placed quite highly, I believe.
