There are a lot of new players too. Not everyone is a veteran. You'll find someone near your skill. However, seeding will likely pit you against the better players. It won't take you 2+ years to stop getting ownedYou need to know that you're probably going to get owned at every tournament you attend for about 2 years because people have been practicing it for a long time (It's been around for 10+ years)

Watch the documentary on youtube and it's got some tips and info to get you started.
Then play around with some characters, find the S Tier character you enjoy playing, and start practicing and studying.
