Just Downloaded, Can't Figure This Out

So I downloaded it, the loading screen worked fine. And I played one game with Marth. It seemed to be fine apart from the CPU character freezing a few times. Then I tried to play one of the old Melee stages (Fountain of Dreams) and it didn't work. It showed up as whatever stage it was supposed to be replacing.
After this, my game reverted back to regular Brawl, even though the selection screen was from Project M. I decided to turn my Wii off and try again later. I tried again on the Fountain of Dreams stage, which still didn't work, and then, my Wii froze with a very loud high pitched noise.
So, anyone have some suggestions? I was impressed with the one game I was able to play.

Did you install manually or use the Demo Installer?

Manually. I have a Mac.
And it freezes anytime I try to play a match now.

Delete everything on your SD card and download the Demo Installer. Launch it and it'll install whichever version of Project M you want onto your SD card, that should get it to work properly. If the problem persists, come back here.

Does the installer work on a mac?

Anyways, check to see if the SD card is locked. Also, if you are running any modifications (textures, music, etc.), try running the game without them.

Re-download & extract the files from the ZIP again. Make sure you see the right files (e.g. .pac files in \private\wii\app\RSBE\pf\stage\melee\).
