jumping out of shine

i just wanted to ask something but while writing the title the answer came to my mind...
well however would be nice if you could affirm my suspicion.

while training skills with fox i noticed that i couldnt jump out of the shine instantaneously after activating shine.
first i thought my mistake was to hit the A button while sliding my thumb to X, but i was pretty sure that i always hit A.

now my suspicion:
could it be that i turn around in the shine, which takes 3 seconds, which clash with the frames i jump with? that would explain why the jump doesnt come out.

yes thats possible. if you turn in your shine it takes 4 frames where you cannot jump. you may also be trying to jump before 4 frames into the shine, because you cannot jump until the fourth frame.

you could just tap up on the control stick.... it makes it a lot easier.

i doubt youre jumping too soon. most people have a hard time moving their finger from b to x/y in under 4 frames.
