JoyStick Replacement?

So, as all N64 Controller joysticks eventually do, mine is eating the ****
It never worked that well in the first place, and I'm just wondering if a new stick like this:

Is legal or not?
Because it is redesigned, but it's still just an analog stick

Looks like a gamecube style joystick. These are not good for smash unless you open them up and replace the PCB with another one that specifically fixes the issue. Someone with more knowledge behind that can tell you more

I have absolutely no idea why you posted that in the character specific subforum. I'd suggest you read this thread (http://smashboards.com/threads/3rd-party-replacement-joystick-guide.336450/) and ask there if you have a question. Concerning legality, it's up to each TO to make whatever rules they want. The general trend lately is to allow 3rd party controllers though.
