Jab to Grab

Excuse the noobiness...But I need help with this. It seems easy and simple but whenever I try hitting Z to grab after a simple jab, I continue punching instead of grabbing....Any tips?

after his arm come back,put the stick down,release it and then press z to grab,seems big but it's very fast
you have to put it down to cancel the jab,it can be in another jab, a grab and in fast down smash

During your first jab, Try pausing a short second then grab.
