Jab reset?

Is the jab reset window the same in PM as it is in Melee? I feel like it was easier back in 2.5, and got much harder in 2.6, but I haven't really tested it. I just know that I've been get-up attacked out of attempted jab resets many, many times.

There's a thing about jab resets (that also existed in Melee) where if the attack doesn't do enough kb (and I don't remember the exact threshhold on this) where it doesn't do a true forced reset, but it allows the player to do getup rolls/attacks instead of a forced reset. Whether or not there is a discrepancy between PM and Melee in this scenario isn't something I can definitively answer, or if it's just more prevalent due to something like more representation among characters that have these types of jabs (that can't forced reset), but I think it's a common belief that these nonstandard resets are more common in PM.

Knockdown resets in PM are based off of knockback rather than damage as they were in Melee. It prevents that silly glitch from Melee where characters could be launched from the ground with no hitstun from attacks like falcon's raptor boost or falco's shine.

Also I was under the impression that those "fake" resets were a result of the player holding a direction/button as they got reset rather than a quality of the jab/attack itself.

It'd be great if someone could shed light on how this all works in P:M. I feel that of all the mechanics in the game this is the one I understand the least from a technical perspective. If there actually are "false" resets that allow the opponent to input getup attacks/rolls, and other "true" resets that force empty getups, it would seem useful to know what are the conditions for either.

I'd like to know this as well. I like jab resets, but they don't always seem to work. Knowing why so I can know what to do when would be nice.

About the differences in the resetting system between the games, here's what I know. If I remember correctly in Melee whether a move will reset or not it depends on a percentage threshold, I believe it is up to 9%. Moves that do more damage than that will never reset and moves that do less will always reset, even at 999%.

In PM it is based in a knockback value threshold which I don't recall the exact number, this means that many moves will reset at very low percents. If a certain weak move has enough knockback growth to surpass that KB value it means it won't reset forever. So only a move with fixed low KB will be able to reset even at 999%.

As for why two hit resets aren't possible or why non neutral forced getup resets seem more common in PM I unfortunately do not hold enough information to answer. I believe we might need more investigation on the matter, but it's likely that Magus knows what causes it.
